Rated 3.4 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Decent quality For what they are, Malibu lighting gets the job done. They are not of high quality but cost is an important factor. The clips that malibu uses are easy to install but not water proof. I simply cut off the clips, strip the wire and use waterproof wirenuts instead. The wire and the system will last much longer this way. January 10, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by We love Texas in the fall even better, with our new Low Voltage Black Bollard lights! We just moved from Michigan to Texas and right after packing we went to Home Depot to buy our landscape lighting! We have enjoyed using the Malibu line of landscape lights for years, and didn’t consider using anything else. The ability to expand and modify the placement over and over, without worry (due to the hearty construction), made our decision easy. They are easy to install, provide consistent light for years and years and they are simply beautiful to look at (day or night). We love our Malibu lights. September 24, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by nice lights with problems I've gone through cases of these Mailibu lights over the years. They look nice, but have some real issues. Their wire harnesses are way to short and pull out very easily, and once pulled out the light needs to be replaced. The sockets chip easily and become unusable. The brackets to attach them to the power cable break and bend easily and come loose even more easily. Right now, out of about 18 of these on my lawn and driveway, only 2 still work. When I do repairs, I have to clean out a pound of dirt and other material that makes its way up from the base. In addition, the bulbs cost a fortune, don't last long, and have a high out of the package failure rate. The bulb design itself is a problem given its 2 tiny little pins that easily bend. And even though they are halogen, they (in these fixtures) give off very little usable light. I installed most of them to light the edge of my driveway, but they aren't bright enough to do any good. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great lights I live in Texas with brutal high temps, these lights have lasted me 6 years and counting. I run them on a timer every single night. I rarely replace a bulb. Ive found most times if you just wiggle the wire it comes right back on. The press on tabs I think get loose. People replacing bulbs must not be doing this. Great lights...I keep expanding. Another note if you go long stretches buy the upgraded wire to carry more current so you dont get dim lights on the end. July 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful and durable The lights are beautiful as well as durable. They were not that difficult to install. They have a real classy look to them. They were hard to find because people buy them up. My husband and I got the last batch in the store. I hope they restock these again for others to use. March 25, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not for damp areas I put these in my garden along a path. The problem is that this area in the garden can puddle somewhat in a heavy rain and with these lights, the bulb is set at the base of the light right on the ground. So the sockets on all of the lights rusted out rather quickly.and stopped working. April 4, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not great for replacement unit Biggest problem is the pigtail which makes it very difficult to install into an existing system with buried cable. Mine is only buried two inches deep. Problem is the pigtail is too short--shorter than the spike even. The connector is difficult to work with so the combo of those two things makes it too difficult to install. This system might be great for a new installation where the cable is on top of the ground and not buried yet. Other issue is that the bottom of the bollard is totally open so critters can crawl right into it. Might have been engineered that way for air flow, but I'd rather have it sealed. Funny that they put an O-ring so the bollard seals tight onto the base, but the base is wide open. All parts are metal and it seems good quality except the items noted above. I can't speak to the lighting effect since I stopped trying to install it. June 2, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Look good - function poorly Kind of a pain. The light sockets are prone to moisture which causes them to corrode. The result is they have to be replaced. Out of 10 lights, 5 of the sockets had to me replaced ($8.00 ea.). I'm in the Pacific NW and the winters aren't that bad. The gaskets that are suppose to keep the moisture out don't help much.
