How do I connect a Malibu submersible floodlight to an existing 200 watt power pack?

This question is from Low Voltage Submersible Floodlight
Asked by
March 22, 2013
The Malibu instructions says it must be connected directly to the power pack and not to the low voltage cable. My power pack has two terminals (each with two screws) with my existing cable running in a loop. Which terminal(s) do I connect the Malibu connectors to?

The submersible is still expecting AC, so the LV line polarity doesn’t matter to the light fixture. The only concern about polarity attaching the LV cable to the power pack correctly. Flat or ridged insulation conductor needs to go into the same power pack terminal.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice light, but misleading and lacking information The front of the box clearly says "Metal Submersible Floodlight". I defy anyone to find ANY metal other than the lamp connector itself. Also, the light comes with a preattached cord but nowhere on the box or in the enclosed instructions (or the photo) is this evident, nor is the length of the cord mentioned. I measured it at 20 ft., but yours may be different since it does not appear to be important enough to mention on the box! This length seems adequate, but if you need it longer, it will need to be spliced, as there does not appear to be a way to replace the cord. I have not installed it yet, but it appears well made. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great effect! This item was recommended to me by a THD sales associate while shopping for a new koi pond pump. At first I was a little skeptical about actually being able to install it, but once he walked me through it, it was a breeze - and was able to replicate it at home - installed two of these in my pond, shinning up at the waterfall in the pond and the other at the trees above. It creates great night time ambiance for our water feature. Thanks for the great recommendation and product! Love it! September 4, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by for the price worth it replaced other underwater lights that had went bad so we had to "modify" the install to tie into the already existing lines which made it a bit more difficult. The seals on the lights aren't so great so figure they will go bad in a few years (just like the other ones did) but for the price ok to replace every 3-5 years. June 24, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lasted for 9 perfect years I had installed these lights nine years ago and barely replacing some of them. They have been sun beaten and some underwater in my pond. This is a great design and the seal is great from shorting out the bulb. Do not fear to invest in this product! I write from expirence. May 20, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Check to make sure the glass holding ring is screwed tight Check to make sure the glass holding ring is screwed tight, mine wasn't and it promptly flooded. You have to pull it back out and make sure it's completely dry inside. December 11, 2012
