Why can't Malibu come up with a metal stake to use, that wouldn't break??

This question is from Walk/Flood Light Replacement Stakes (2-Pack)

Recall these plastic stakes that keep breaking. Home Depot doesn't even carry them in stock. Have to order them and pay shipping, then the supplier is out of stock. Just make a metal stake and that would solve everyone's problem.

Generally speaking, the idea is to have a weaker material fail before the main part of the light is damaged. If the lights above ground are getting impacted so as to break the stake below, the impact could have caused permanent damage to the shaft of the light. Answer:
Yes. Depends on where it broke off as to how to remove it. Drill two small holes in the broken stem and use snap ring pliers to turn it out

In most cases using a pair of needle nose pliers will work to get the threaded stakes out.

I'm told this should work, will it? The stake that comes with the light is looks different.

Also its out of stock online, is there any way of finding it around my local area stores easily? Im in Roseville, CA (95747).

If not will anything work as a substitute as I do not want to replace my all the Malibu lights around my house.

Walk/Flood Light Replacement Stakes (2-Pack) is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Needs to be replaced with metal stakes I must say these stakes are the worst product that could possibly be a part of these Malibu lights. After first installing the lights, immediately the stakes would snap off with just the slightest bump or trying to put them into the ground. I ordered an addition $30 worth of stakes to have on hand. I have gone through all of them, and ordered another 30 stakes. At this rate, I might as well pull the whole thing out of the ground and get solar lights. Its worthless. The quality is horrible. Don't buy any of these lights with this type of stake. They need to be recalled or removed from stores.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fragile These stakes were purchased as replacements for the originals that came with a kit. The stakes are plastic and break easily. Also, any hammering on top of the stakes usually results in damage to the threads for the light to attach. I recommend when installing tier lights that you first make a hole in the ground slightly smaller that the stake. I used an old short piece of rebar. Check perpendicular prior to fully putting the stake down. Do NOT try to move/adjust the angle of the light post after the stake is fully in the ground. Even slight pressure will snap the light from the stake. Then you get to buy replacement stakes and start over.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap China Product Replacement stakes same as original stakes that came with the product, Very poor thread arrangement and weak joint area. Most difficult to get straight and twist the electric wire many times before getting tight. Threaded area breaks off from the stake with very little pressure while putting together and putting in the ground and after installation the slightest bump break them. 6 out of 14 have broken.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Looked right, but wasn't The Malibu plastic stakes break easily. Short of replacing the lights, I thought I could replace stakes (plus shipping) for half the cost. Not Home Depot problem, but Malibu lights are cheap and you get what you pay for. I just wish product description was more helpful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from finally, a good replacement All previous Malibu ground stakes were fragile plastic(a really poor design), and these replacement stakes are what I've been looking for!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Replacement part works well This is a replacement part that is required if you have the Malibu lighting system. You have to buy two at once and it is relatively expensive with shipping, but you have no other choice. The part is not sold in the store.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from replacement stakes I received these and they were just what I had ordered, however, I ordered the wrong stake. I will keep these as they can be used on another lighting project I have at my cottage. They are very heavy duty and should outlast probably the lights.
