Malvern 42 in. Kitchen Island in Midnight Cherry-DISCONTINUED is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of storage area. The removable trays in the drawers are a huge plus for storing spices, flatware and more in an organized manner. The hidden casters are great! The island is moved easily, but looks like it sits on the floor.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Product is NOT worth the pricetag This island was very heavy and difficult to assemble. One of the side pieces was cracked all the way up the board. The only reason it didn't go back was that it was too heavy to manage. The storage is not what I expected. So not worth the price, backache, and time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good sturdy construction with excellent features Positives: Sturdy construction. Easy assembly because of good manufacturing accuracy. Casters are heavy duty and roll easily with moderate force even with heavy load. Very stable even without casters locked (see below). Negatives: Cannot operate the caster locking mechanism unless the island is raised off the floor. Paper towels difficult to change with "double screw" arrangement. Comment: We modified the island to accept a 30"X48" granite top. We also modified the casters to use through bolts instead of wood screws to strenthen them because of increased weight of the granite. (Manufacturer recommended we NOT modify for granite top.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very sturdy little island! Although the project started off a little difficult to assemble, we soon got it put together with the help of a couple of flashlights, and now it is a beautiful, and functional, addition to our home. It has a lot of storage space, a very durable counter top and a rich color that looks great with our antique cherry dining room table. My only regret is that we put the wheels on... Putting them on was one of the first steps, so going back and taking them off again was not an appealing option once it was all completed and full of bake ware. Without the wheels, it would be very sturdy- someday soon I'll unload it and take the casters off!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I was great at first but after some use it started falling apart It was easy to assemble and looks great in our kitchen. After 7 months of owning the island, the wooden top cracked in half. We do sit heavy objects on the top, the only thing that regularly sits on the island is a small bowl of fruit. We still have it in our kitchen and use it, but it doesn't look nice anymore. I have thought about only replacing the top and keeping the rest. The drawers are not on a track and often get stuck when opening and closing them.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Came damaged This item took several hours to assemble, and my husband does this kind of thing for a living. Some of the pieces came very damaged - side panel was split, one hole was drilled wrong, one of the drawers was badly chipped on the outside (I have that side up against the wall.)One of the drawers sticks so badly it is not really usable. The ONLY reason I did not return it is I have family coming for a visit and already got rid of the piece of furniture I had in that spot. Also, We had it half put together before we saw the damaged parts, and it would have been hard to unassembled and take this huge item back. The storage space inside is much less than I expected. I measured out 42", but that is the size from the top. The decorative edges really cut down on how much space is inside. It is very beautiful though. The casters make it easy to move when you need to (I can pull it up to my counter when I do large cooking projects) But it looks like it sits on the floor.
