This product appears to have been the "cure all" for my hot water system. We have experienced an increase in water pressure, hotter water, better smelling water and we no longer have to take turns showering. With a minimum of four and as many as eight people in our house on any given day, lack of hot water can be a problem.
We live in a somewhat rural part of Maryland and we're on well water. Our first hot water heater gave out after only seven years of use due to corrosion. We shouldn't have that problem anymore since this product doesn't have a metal tank.
It's only been a month but this hot water heater gets an A++ from me.

I love this water heater. I was getting a 14yr old 66gal water heater replaced and this one fit the bill perfectly. The old one could never fill our soaking tub before it ran out of hot water. This one can fill it no problem and with plenty to spare for any other hot water loads. It is also very light for it size and very energy efficient for a hot water tank. It actually uses around 400 less kwh per year compared to the old tank that is smaller. I also like the fact that the tank itself has a lifetime warranty with a 6yr warranty on the parts. No more worrying about rust build up.

I suggest that anyone who has one of these water heaters learn how to replace the elements, or you will be paying out a lot of money on a regular basis to a plumber. The elements burn out quickly, especially the upper one. Also, I received a replacement water heater under warranty (and paid our plumber hundreds to remove the old one and replace with new one) and Marathon told me this newer one has elements made of titanium, but they were not, so the replacement was not an improvement like they led me to believe. Upper element burned out after 2 years with just occasional use (it's in a seasonal home and, btw, we are aware of making sure the tank is full of water before turning it on).

About 20 years ago the water heater in my home started to leak and it made a horrible mess in my house. When shopping for a replacement I came across the Marathon Water Heater because the tank was made of plastic. It was the most expensive water heater at the time, but I didn't want to deal with another leaker again. 20 years later my Marathon water heater is still working and I have had no problems with it at all. Spend the extra money and get the best water heater made.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tiger260 Marathon 105 - a bargain that was easy to install.
I replaced an 80 gal standard heater with the 105 Marathon. The primary reason was a master BR soaking tub that required more hot water. It was easy to install, partially because it weighed less than the old metal model. At nearly 70 with a nearly 65 yr spouse, we had no trouble moving it into place and putting it in service. I would make the decision to get this heater again, in the blink of an eye. After installation I went to the Rheem website and ordered spare upper and lower heating elements and an upper thermostat. Believe I will never have serious hot water issues again in my lifetime. We have left the unit powered down for two weeks and returned to find water hot enough for at least one comfortable shower.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Warren So Far no real complaints - seems to be working fine
This water heater is HUGE!! Much bigger than expected but for us it will I think do the trick to keep hot water going to a full kitchen - laundry room and master bath - we only had a 60 gal prior and would always run out of hot water somewhere - the installation was no different than any other water heater except the fitting used on this one are larger - 1" inlet and outlet - so an adaptor is required and be sure to rap all of the fittings well with plumbers tape and on the adaptor use plumbers thread sealer or it will leak - the pans that they have at HD also do not fit - so we put ours on some leftover pieces of the counter top just to get it off the concrete floor in our garage -

It doesn't take up as much room as I thought, The reason why we bought this brand/model is because we have well water which kept making are hot water smelly and after doing research I found that people that had that problem bought plastic lined water heaters and the smell went away.
So far after 2 weeks there is no smell, plus having this much water for an emergency is great.
BTW the 26 inch pan does fit if you wanted to use a pan.
