I need a glue for this.

I bought these panels for my bathroom wall. The contractor says a glue must be applied to the whole back side but the Utica store does not carry the proper kind. The glue they have is not recommended for use on painted surfaces. The new panels will be covering older, painted ones. Can you tell me which glue to buy? Thanks!

Can this be used for shower walls?

I'm trying to come up with a fairly inexpensive but solid wall material for an old mobile home shower.
