Answer:
There is a metal plate and two screws in the back of the brackets. You loosen the screws, remove the plate and screw the plate into the wall (it recommends using drywall anchors or screwing directly into a stud). Then you slide the bracket over the plate until the screws lock into place.
Sorry, I don't know the proper names of everything and i didn't save the directions. I hope this helps.

1-3/8 in. Wood Double Bracket in Heritage Oak is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Two thumbs up These were easy to install (you do need a drill) and unlike my old set you can easily place your rods by dropping them in the open holes rather than removing an end. This exact same product cost double from Amazon. I also liked the fact that I coul buy them online and pick them up at the store of my choice, ready to go and no shipping fee!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice but dfficult to install These are nice, sturdy curtain rod brackets, but they were not easy to install for me. The first step is to unscrew a plate from the back and they REALLY screwed those guys in. I did finally end up getting it, but almost gave up.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Recommend with caution I was a bit disappointed with the double brackets. I purchased 3 boxes of these for my bedroom windows. The first box I opened was missing the screws, so I had to go back to the store and exchange it. The directions were not all that great, but I figured out how to get the back mounting plate off, installed my first window. Upon opening the second box (yes I should have checked it after my first problem) I found one was missing the mounting plate, so back to Home Depot to replace it. I installed my second window brackets. My drapes are quite substantial in weight, floor length, lined with an interlining. I hung my curtains, and they seemed great, but the next morning, they were pulling out of the wall. The hardware was not heavy enough to hold heavier curtains. I had to take them all down, and go to the store again for longer wall anchors. Even though the anchors are quite heavy, one of my brackets wobbles a bit. My best advice would be to purchase your own heavy, longer wall anchors instead of using the cheap ones that come with the set. They do look nice on the wall, and they have been up for several months now, and they have not pulled out of the wall again. I am getting ready to purchase another set for another window. I wish that I could find a different brand, but I can not find anything else that is reasonably priced. Just be aware the quality control of Martha Stewart brand is not all that great. I also purchased the rings and the rod, and yes believe it or not, I had to return to the store and replace both of these!! Total of 6 trips to the store to make my windows work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works with vertical blinds This is one of a handful of curtain rod hangers long enough to let curtains hang in front of the vertical blinds and not bind them up when opening and closing them
Date published: 2015-04-28
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ideal usage. We have vertical blinds that are set on the outside of the window, making drapes and curtains very difficult to add. These rod holders made it possible to place drapes on the farthest part of the holder.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Use your own hardwear As the other person said, the instructions were bad, but I was able to figure it out. Two things bothered me the most about this product. 1. The screws that hold the catch plate are on so tight! I had a hard time getting them off even with the electric screw driver. 2. The MOST annoying thing was that the screws going into the wall that have the anchor sleeves are FLAT HEAD with a RATCHET cut so unless you have a an electric screw driver that can fit this good luck screwing these in by hand. As a woman I found trying to use the provided screws was impossible. I ended up using my own screws and anchors with a phillips head. Why make things with flat head screws these days? On a positive note: the rod brackets hold tightly to the wall and seem to work well. I have a 120 long window, and all of the metal brackets just seemed too flimsy for the amount of curtain I wanted to hang.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from curtainrod Just what I wanted. Easy install and sturdy. I'd take wood over over metal rods any day
