Answer:
THE TOP OF THE BRACKET IS WHERE THE TOP OF YOUR CURTAIN WILL REST, PROVIDED YOU ARE USING A 1 3/8" ROD. MEASURE 102" FROM THE FLOOR, THEN, HOLDING THE BRACKET TO THE SIDE OF THAT MARK / MARK WHERE THE MIDDLE OF EACH SCREW WILL GO INTO THE WALL.

Answer:
Place the screw plate in the bracket and pencil mark on the side of the bracket the where the center of the two screw holes are as your point of reference. With someone helping you, place the curtain on the rod and the rod on the bracket and raise the drapes to your desired height. The pencil marks on the bracket shows where you should drill so pencil mark the wall there.

Answer:
THEY ARE PAINTED W/ A VERY HIGH-GLOSS PAINT, WHICH, I ASSUME, WOULD REQUIRE SANDING, BEFORE REPAINTING. IT WOULD BE EASIER TO PURCHASE AN UNPAINTED DOWEL.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from BEWARE OF MISLEADING INSTRUCTIONS!!! Overall, this bracket is decent and serves its intended purposes. Pros: Looks nice. Holds curtain rod well. Cons: Instructions tell you to drill 3/16" pilot holes for the screws that mount the mounting plate to the wall. I blindly followed the instructions thinking, "hmmm, these must be some beefy screws to take such a large pilot hole..." but I didn't look at the screws. My mistake. A 3/16" pilot hole will be larger than the diameter of the threads on the screws, so your mounting screws will slide in and out of the hole, making them completely useless. If this happens to you, your options are to find a longer screw that will make it deeper than your pilot hole, get a lag bolt (which is about the size you'll need with that big of a pilot hole), or make the hole even bigger so you can use a drywall anchor. I went with the drywall anchor route, which worked. Another "con" is that the finish on the brackets (and especially the curtain rod) is not the greatest, so paint can easily flake or chip off. Be careful during installation and you should be ok.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply.Amazing.Bracket This incredible bracket held up my curtain rod with the greatest of ease. It came out of the package silently, and put up no resistance when I mounted it to the wall. Placing the rod on the mounted bracket was a little tricky, but a quick review of the printed instructions (included) remedied the situation. Would buy again. A+++!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Bracket for Curtains Bracket was better quality than expected. Easy to install and make plum to wall. Way easier than junky metal bracket that come with the screws that strip after two turns. I would like it if they came with something to cover up the screw hole at the bottom, but otherwise a great bracket for hanging curtains.
