Customer Questions & Answers

What is the difference in color between Martha Steward vintage gold and pearl gold?

I am going to paint a side table and want it to have a satin sheen, not a bright metallic look.

10-oz. Golden Pearl Metallic Paint is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not like ordinary paint Painting with metallic paint is not like ordinary painting. DO use a paint additive called Floetrol, not expensive at all, to lengthen the drying time. DO use the widest Frog Tape if you use this on a wall as you have to get the roller right up to the ceiling. Your final roll must be a downward stroke for every part of the wall or it won't look right. Don't use a brush except in the corners (and do them first); do use a 1/2 inch roller. The color darkens upon drying - Pearl is gold, not light gold. It looks stunning but I did it the wrong way first, not knowing any better. Plan on two coats, and I used a base coat of gold eggshell paint as well. The paint does cover quite a bit. It dries very quickly - use the Floetrol!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful!' I initially purchased this paint as an accent color to layer ontop of the main wall in my living room. I ended up going a different route, but I used this color for some abstract artwork on canvas and my results are amazing! I absolutely love the coverage! I'm just annoyed that my local Home Depot doesn't carry this line in stores anymore ):

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hard to work with This paint is not like your typical paint, initially it doesn't have good coverage. After the second coat it does start to look better but only frustratingly better. I used it to paint my bedroom furniture which was originally a bone color. I primed it with a bright white primer. I used a foam roller and a paint brush. At the end of my project I bought a foam brush which seemed to work better. I don't know if I used the wrong applicators but I felt frustrated with the results they were giving. After several coats, the end results look ok but not great. Looking back, I would have 1) not bought the paint 2) tried to have the color made in a diff brand and in a larger size than the 10oz. and 3) not used a bright white primer. I would, however, recommend this paint for smaller projects like accenting furniture.
