I am a do it yourselfer and thank god I research before I start a project! in order to get any crackle a heat gun is necessary but it is still a real effort I scraped and re-sanded twice to get a semi decent effect, nothing like the picture shown at all. If you are looking for a neat finish, keep looking i used this on my kitchen cabinets and while I finally got a completion it was hours upon hours of extra work. I did entire sections multiple times, to thin and no crackle to thick and no crackle the only option is to start over and try again, horrible product with vague instruction at best. and don't even think about a two tone finish such as painting then using the crackle to see through to the paint color the best cracks are far to fine for that type of detail.

I painstakingly spent about 2 hours applying this product to my plant stand, and waited overnight to see the crackle results. No crackle! Just dried goop, which will now need to be sanded and have some other product reapplied. This product does not do what it claims, even though I read the directions, followed the directions, live in a dry climate so overnight drying should be sufficient (product says 60 minutes) and do lots of home products - I am no novice here. This is the first Martha Stewart product I have ever used and it very well may be the last. I don't appreciate having my time and money wasted.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tyler Great product!
It worked and applied just as I had hoped! Very happy with the product, I just wish they had more color selections. I couldn't find the color that I had originally used for this project but luckily it was a very light color and the white doesn't look too far off to be noticeable.

I followed all instructions with the primer & Sealer, the correct drying time, and the way to use the crackle product. I waited the correct time for it to process, and even viewed the video online, prior. It crackled a bit, and then when I tried to sand a bit to smooth it out (the suggested application), it was a total mess on my nice piece of furniture!
I am now using Citristrip to strip it all off and am starting over. That is a good, safe product, and it's working! I can't believe Martha Stewart put her name on this crackle product. I will not trust any of her endorsed products in the future.

Works great but you have to be patient. YOU MUST USE A PUTTY KNIFE!! If you brush, it will not work. Lay it on thick, like frosting a cake, and dry right away with a heat gun, like your hair dryer. I was afraid because it will not go on as a thin coat or go on smoothly. I loved it when it was done. Even my super exacting, super picky husband loved it. The finish looks old - uneven, weathered, alligatored - perfect!! This is not for the person who wants a thin, even finish with crackle effect.
I used it on an ugly fan and it turned out great! Even teenaged boys liked it! Wow.

The product does not always work. I tried it thick and thin and it did not hardly crackle either way. I used a different product before that I purchased at Home Depot that worked very good. It came in a two can process that came together in one box. Home Depot no longer sells it, since Martha Stewart has her Living products in their stores.

Paid way to much for the primer and crackle. Followed the directions exactly as stated on the jar...NO crackle!! It looks like I have spread nail hole repair on a piece of furniture. Ruined!
