when you need to rely on the answer from another customer instead of it being part of the "specifications" for depth, it says a lot about the quality.

The 14" depth is perfect for storing quilting fabric. Since fabric is relatively heavy, I spaced the shelves only about 12" apart.

Very poor quality service, some of the shelves had cracks when they arrived at my home.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Chris Great quality for the price
I bought this system to complete our Master bedroom and Master closet remodel. I wasn't too sure of the quality to expect for this price point, especially after looking at many similar systems that were a lot more expensive. I bought the 4 ft. - 8 ft. Espresso Deluxe Starter Closet Kit, 72 inch Espresso Hanging Starter Closet Kit, 48 in. Espresso Vertical Panels (2-Pack), 4 of the 24 inch Espresso Shelves (2-Pack), 4 of the 35 inch Espresso Shelves (2-Pack) and an additional 32 inch closet System Rail. This allowed me to have 1 wall of that included 96 inches of double hanging, and 24 inches of long hanging for my wife’s dresses. It also gave me two 72 inch towers, one tower with 24 inch shelves and one tower with 35 inch shelves. My decision in what to buy was based on using the Martha Stewart closet design website. After I entered my room dimensions and edited the recommendation to suit our needs, the website gave me the list of things I needed to buy through Home Depot’s website. I was able to install the entire closet system by myself in under 2.5 hours (My pregnant wife watch silently in amazement from our bed). I think the most difficult part for most people will be cutting the metal rails to the correct size. The instructions suggest using a hacksaw. Fortunately for me I just bought a Dremel 4200 on Black Friday that came with a metal cutting wheel that made short work of cutting the rails for me. I think the photos do not do justice to the completed project. But my toughest critics (the lovely wife) absolutely loves who new closet. She even shares part of it with me.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nicki Very Happy!
I have done 3 reach in closets with Martha Stewart Closets and I love the quality and the look! Nice and sturdy. My dad helped me install them. The hardest part is getting the bracket up across the back, just in getting it level and all. Once that part is done the rest is like putting together a puzzle. After doing 2, the 3rd one was a piece of cake! I refered back to the other two to decide where I wanted shelves, etc. If you think about the cost of buying a dresser and the cost of installing a closet organizer with a dresser in it, pricewise it comes out just about the same. I'm VERY happy with my purchase!

I'm very satisfied with this purchase. The shelves are very good quality, sturdy and attractive. However, only the front edge was finished so I ironed on veneer facing and stained the other 3 edges. According to my in-home advisers this wasn't necessary, but my OCD kicked in and I just couldn't help myself.

I moved into a home with a custom closet. I needed shelving and these were a perfect match. I love how they completed my closet. The quality is very nice as well.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Matt54 Excellent BUT...
If you are at all handy, then ordering and installing this custom closet system will be a snap. It's solid and looks great once hung. If I could make ONE suggestion though, it would be that the hang bar that you screw into the studs NEEDS to be longer. The shelves come in 12, 24, and 35 inch widths. But the hang bar comes in ONE size...32 inches. This is fine for the first two shelf widths, but if you ordered the 35 inch width shelving like I did...you have to use two bars and hacksaw them both down to size. Just make a 38 or so inch bar for the wider shelving units.
