This product has only backings for 3 boxes, assuming you were putting baskets in the others which I have. I would have a backing the covers the whole back.

These shelves work well for organization and storage. The cardboard backs they come with are useless but we attached a piece of fabric covered ply-wood to the back and they are sturdy and great for our nursery

I bought two. The first one went together very easily. The second had a couple of very minor problems but I won in the end. Sturdy and attractive. Note: All the images show these cubes in a vertical position, I use mine horizontally.

We assembled two of the 2x3 cherry colored units and they seem to be fine for our purpose. We did make some changes in the construction after reading the previous reviews.
The most significant change was using different screws than those supplied with the unit. We used Grip Rite Course Thread Drywall Screws size 1 5/8" x 8. These screws are very similar to the ones provided but have a thinner and larger diameter head. Eighteen screws are needed per cabinet. Another change was to drill counter sink holes for the screws so that the surface of the screw head was just above the surface of the boards before tightening. A third change which might not be necessary was to put a small line of Tightbond wood glue along the edges of the shelves before putting on the sides of the cabinet.
Our construction method was to build the whole center section of top, bottom, and the two shelves before putting on the sides. We built the center section as if the cabinet were lying on it's back and then carefully tipped it to be sitting on one side. It is then easy to put some glue on the upper board edges and install one side. After that, flip the cabinet over and repeat for the other side.
The screw covers worked fine with the drywall screws and project only a small amount from the sides of the cabinet. They look similar to the wooden plugs that are used to hide screw heads in some furniture.
Adding the counter sink holes took a little more work but one person was still able to assemble the second cabinet in about 30 minutes.
The pictures show the completed cabinet and the screw covers.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Britt Great for kid storage!
I bought this to go horizontally in my toddler's closet. It was easy to put together ( I am 8 months pregnant and put it together myself), directions were easy enough, all parts were there. No chips in the piece. Although you do have to be careful, I did chip a part of it when I was hammering but not big enough to tell. The only downfall is that the screws that hold the piece together have these white covers that you can put over it so you aren't looking at screws..... don't cover the screw all the way. So it sticks up. I tried hammering it and it just won't lay flat. But for me it was not that big of a deal.

I ordered these to store and display fabric for my quilting needs. They are easy to put together, with plenty of little screws and dowels. I highly recommend them and plan to order six more so one whole wall will be covered. Stacking them lengthwise, three to a group, 72 inches.
