Can you install the hanging rods at any height you want (for instance, if on one side I want one dress-length pole instead of two short-hang poles)?

Answer:
Yes, you can install in any of the pre-drilled holes which range from top to bottom of the side panel. I did this and the only "problem" is that you end up with an extra pole if you only do one rod instead of two.

Answer:
Yes, using the holes provided. However, the recommendations for most closets (via web search) is for double pole configurations is 80" and 40". The Martha Stuart closet instructions put the top of the cabinets at 84" which will support the recommended heights. However, if you are a tall person 6ft+ you will want the poles generally taller and I suggest coming above 84 Inches.

Yes you can, very easily! You just leave the bottom rod out, and hang the top rod at whatever height you want.

Unless this is different than the product I bought 10 years ago, no. It needs the side walls of the closet to be stable.

I waited a couple of weeks after it was installed to test it out before I reviewed it .... and I love it!
However, I had purchased two of the starter kits and ended up using the long side from the second kit so that the system reached low enough for me to get the desk height where I wanted it. The handyman installed the metal cross rails at the specified height but where the computer desktop was too high for me to sit at comfortably, so I had him cut the other kits long side boards to the right height for me.
NOTE: The metal railing (used to connect the system too at the top) could have been installed lower but I didn't think of that until later. So be sure to mark the top of the desk height where you will be most comfortable working and then measure upward to determine the place to install the top (white) metal railing.
I bought the Martha Stewart storage bins to hide the white metal railing.
I am very happy with the results. Read Less

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Martha Stewart Closet Organizer The closet organizer looks nice in photos but is very low quality. It is constructed out of particle board, which anyone who knows anything about carpentry knows particle board is cheap and not fun to work with. This organizer does not provide a sturdy construction due to the track mount system the entire assembly is hung from. Also, the price for this closet organizer is fairly high for just some cheap particle board. For the price you would think it would be made from actual hardwood. August 9, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible closet system This was a nightmare! It is not custom by any means. We entered the dimensions of our closet and let Martha Stewart closets create the recommended configuration ... Problem is still all are items are sent in standard sizes. After over 40 boxes were dropped on our front door we learned EVERYTHING had to be cut down with saw equipment that the average household does not have. The entire system hangs on a single track system that we bolted into the studs, and it still fell in the middle of the night. My husband is still mad we kept this and didn't return. August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to do Closet Fit perfectly in a empty closet, worked well in space. August 30, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Missing parts Love the product. Would loved it even more if all the parts and pieces were with it. Had to go back to the store to purchase missing shelves and hardware. August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great closet organizer. This product arrived with easy to follow instructions, great durability, and looks great! August 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good quality Product met my expectations. It is laminated patticle board, but seems to be above average quality. Looks great and very functional. The drawers slide smoothly and feel solid and secure. I purchased a second set to refurbish a another closet in my house. July 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Closet set Completed unit looks great. Highly recommended. Easy to put together. August 10, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Overpriced for the quality. Go with ClosetMaid Fairly easy to assemble. That's the only "pro". I'd recommend the ClosetMaid system over this. Same thing, except no "celebrity" name attached to it. This system is very much overpriced for the quality. Could not get or pick up in store. Had to deliver. Delivery was quicker than anticipated, except every single piece was damaged. Nothing major so that we could not install it, but once installed, you could see marks and dents everywhere. Will try to cover it up somehow since it's already installed. Didn't have this issue with our ClosetMaid closet. Also, the Martha closet design program was great to use before hand to plan out the closet. If you chose this product, it's worth tinkering around in to customize your closet. July 5, 2016
