Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Les would not buy again
When I went to Home Depot to buy this it said white is available online only... I designed and the way the closet picture looks is not what you get. The top shelf does not fit over, but down about an inch so you do not have a solid smooth shelf at the top. It would be much more useful if the two short sides came all the way down like the middle section. This product is just like all the other's out there, particle board with a paper laminate. I was disappointed that Martha Stewart would put her name on this but since I had already torn down the previous closet, a double door and designed an ALCOVE CLOSET I had to have it installed for a surprise for my daughter.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MelissaInOH Easy to work with, GREAT customer service
I am reviewing this part of the collection but this review is for the entire Martha Stewart Closet line, I actually designed a custom solution for a small bedroom in my house that I am converting into a walk-in closet. I was very nervous to be doing this on my own but so far, it's been going smoothly. Directions are solid. Materials are sturdy, the drawers are really well made (and pretty easy to assemble.) The two 72" panels in the deluxe set were cracked but I blame UPS, not the packaging. I called customer service, they asked for my order number, if the box was damaged and then told me my replacement parts were on their way. AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by DIYMark Competitive priced but don't expect longevity
I installed a "custom design" system created with the online martha stewart closet website design tool. It included this starter kit as well as a number of other off the shelf kits to create the design. Here is a summary of the pros-cons
-The design tool is reasonably flexible and allows you to adjust for the closet unique dimensions
-The hanging system using a metal french cleat makes the unit versatile and assure it hangs plumb regardless of the straightness of the wall. Also is very strong
-The kits are well packaged and all came undamaged (there were 23 boxes for a walk-in closet)
-The quality of the melamine wood is very low. In my cabinet making business I have seen there is a wide range of quality of this simple material. Low quality the foil face (surface) chips easily and is thin.
-There is a great deal of waste with the "kit" approach. The design tool decides what you need by combining kits. So if you need a single long upright panel you pay for a whole starter kit that includes multiple long panel, shelves, and fasteners.
-There is a significant amount of cutting and drilling. Custom is a misnomer. The design tool combines standard kits (12, 24, 35") to fill your dimensions. You have to cut the pieces to size to fit your application. This can be significant.
-Drawer boxes are weak. I found the drawer kits to be especially low quality. Drawers are typically high use and demand strength of materials to maintain shape (squareness) and performance. This system all components are low grade MDF or Particle board. The slides are pretty good but I expect the drawers will fail after a few years of use.
Overall, this method of combining standard kits is a great way for the consumer to get a decent looking closet organizer at what seems like a competitive price. Still, as a cabinet maker, I'm surprised how low quality the materials are for the price. The system my client had me install was over $1000 and frankly there was about $200 of materials if you purchased them as sheet goods and made them yourself. I realize building it from scratch is way beyond most consumers, but that margin is surprising. I expect this system to last just a few years (10 or less), where a cabinet maker quality system (from plywood with traditional joinery) would last for decades.

Life changing! We used it to turn spare bedroom into a walk in closet. Fairly easy to put together once you figure out the studs for hanging and decide how high to hang the thing. Don't hang so high you can reach the top to hang your clothes.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ProjectManager Better than anticipated
In spite of several reviews to the contrary, the closet kit arrived in perfect shape. I will concede that the box was tattered and at first glance I was worried but all the components were there and none were damaged. Assembly was quite easy, the key being to level and anchor the first hanging rail properly. After that, it was simple. By the way, the instructions found on the internet are much better than the ones shipped with the product. Will buy another organizer in the future for sure!! It worked exactly as I had intended it to.

We absolutely love the closet organizer. When we moved into our new home the closet was in bad shape and needed to be replaced. We looked into just wire racking, and just a rod but for a little but it more we decided to go with the closet organizer. After pricing it out, it was only a little more for it to look higher quality. I'm so glad we chose it. It's really nice and sturdy. Highly recommended. And it only took about 2 hours to install and we did 2 in one closet.
