Customer Questions & Answers

I'm considering using the Martha Stewart Beadboard wallpaper and would like information on how to order the recommended wallpaper paste.

My Hyannis store doesn't carry the wallpaper or paste.
Asked by: Anonymous
I ordered mine on the home depot web site. It is the Golden Harvest 1 gal paste model #209814 The one gal size was much more than I needed for the job but it worked great.

Will the wallpaper remain bonded to a textured surface?

Plan to cover interior of closet with MS beadboard wallpaper. The closet is currently paneled with thin, textured fiberboard. Concerned it will tear away from thin fibers. Thoughts?

I pasted the paper directed to the cabinet doors without sanding them first. The paste was easy to apply and the paper sticks very well.

Can you use this paper as is or do you have to paint it?

Asked by: Michele
I thought I'd end up painting mine, but once I hung it, I loved it unpainted.

What is the material of the paper like?

I've seen the blue store version of this beadboard paper and it was spongy and seemed like it would tear easily. How would you describe this paper from HomeDepot?
Asked by: Pete
The paper does have a spongy feel to it. It will tear, but not as easily as regular wallpaper. When applying the wet paper, it has a heavy feel to it so you have to be careful with it.

Our 80's vintage, new to us house, was in desperate need of a bathroom update. The walls were in terrible shape and I had to do something to cover them up. I wanted the beadboard look, but knew the real stuff was above my skill level. So, after much Googling for ideas I stumbled upon beadboard wallpaper! Yay, I'm so happy with the results. Only wish I had taken before pictures for comparison. The paper was easy to work with, but you do need to be careful with it, as it could be easily damaged. I did put two coats of Behr semi gloss in swiss coffee, and am very pleased with the look.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok for specific purposes This product is convenient but is a foamy texture that could be easily damaged in high traffic areas and lower walls. I returned it and decided to use traditional beadboard paneling instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pinterest: "Tried it!" We updated flat wood kitchen cabinets. We palm sanded the fronts, taking the gloss off from previous layers of paint, then used a tiny paint roller for the wallpaper paste, smoothing with a damp rag. Not a single bubble! Not a product defect, but a novice user "whoopsie:" If you choose to fold / crease / cut with a straight razor, make sure the product is folded with back sides together, as the razor can snag on the "fuzzy," front side. Thankfully, we over estimated our need, so I have a spare roll for future projects.

This wallpaper gave me the look of beadboard wainscoting in a guest bathroom without the hassle of cutting around plumbing and fixtures. It even fooled my sister! Along with a new paint color, it gave an instant beach look to the bathroom. It requires paste on the wall, not on the paper which I had never done before. It is actually easier not hanging wet, gluey wall paper, and instead sliding it on a wet, gluey wall! Con: It is made of some kind of foamy stuff (like the packaging around electronics?) and I accidentally put a gouge in it -with my fingernail. On the up side, I covered a red painted wall in my dining room with no show-through at all.

Easily paint-able after the paste has had adequate chance to adhere and dry/cure.

I applied this over irremovable vinyl wallpaper (lazyway) and it worked perfectly. I then painted it with high gloss acrylic enamel and you would swear it is wood beaded boards. Perfect in every way. I highly recommend.
