Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CatV Using this as my jewelry cabinet .. Love it!
This craft cabinet is perfect for holding my jewelry, just in case you haven't thought of using it for that. Structurally, it is heavy duty, very solid and sound. You will need two people to put it together. It's very heavy. Not only do they include all the hardware, but also the tools you need. The only part that was difficult was getting the last cam screw holders in the back of the top. You'll need a VERY long screw driver to help with that (that's not included). I love it and am sure it will last a lifetime or more. Thank you Martha Stewart and Home Depot. Well worth the price

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Martha546 Overall, a Great, Functional Cabinet
After reading many reviews, I was a little hesitant about attempting to assemble this cabinet. But, if you plan to devote a day to it, you can do it yourself. I do stress, an entire day with little interruption. It took me ten hours. If you have young ones at home, plan on taking a couple of days.
The boxes had to be unpacked and the contents moved some at a time, as all three were too heavy and large to be move in their delivered state, unless you have a hand truck.
The assembly went fairly smoothly, and the directions were easy to follow if you paid attention to the illustrations, showing notch positions, etc. Putting the table top on by myself was a little challenging, but it got done.
The four flat drawers provide great storage for delicate papers and artwork, and the deeper drawers are great for bulkier items. The nice sized top adds workspace to my studio, which you can never have too much of.
The addition of this cabinet to my studio has increased efficiency and enable much better workflow.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JoAnne Perfect for my jewelry design business
I was in desperately in need of some type of storage for my beading supplies. My containers were piled on a folding table and I would have to literally dig my way through the stacks on my table to find the necessary components for a project I was working on. Then I saw this cabinet. The top four drawers are perfect for my containers as I needed something that was shallow so I could just look at the top and identify size/color/shape. Despite what other reviewers stated about taking them all day to assemble, my two guys put it together in less than 2 hours. Love this! Wish my crafts room was larger so I could add a second one.
And am impressed with the quality of the cabinet.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Chris Unique cabinet but over priced and poor quality
This is 2nd one of this type of cabinet I have assembled, and it had the same type of problems as the first. I bought it because of the unique design meets my needs. Unfortunately the boards are poor material and crack easily. Some of the wood drawer parts were warped which was probably why one of the screws went in at wrong angle resulting in a drawer that would not hold together. Cam-locks were of poor quality -- one anchor was defective resulting in ability to install that cam-lock. Again instructions were insufficient resulting in having to redo assembly. One of the necessary screws was missing. Item costs way too much for all these problems.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by ccreate ONE PERSON ASSEMBLY (ADDITIONAL ENHANCEMENTS)
Many express “well made” on this piece but I feel it’s the weight that makes them express that. This is 75% MDF. The ‘real’ wood used inside the draws is about as soft as the Bass you find in a craft store. The brown finish is painted on. I realized this when some of it came damaged. The painted finish was flaking off… and underneath just MDF (see images). That is why I chose to put a clear protective finish on all outside facing parts. I ordered this piece at HomeDepot online. Shipped free to my local store.
DEBOXING - APPROX 2 hrs:
— 0.25 hrs - Read Manual cvr to cvr
— 1.5 hrs - Debox and Clean pieces. (open boxes down the center seam)
— 0.5 hrs - Count inventory
— 3 Boxes: LRG 70lbs 8”x 33”x 48” ; MED 95lbs 10”x 32”x 43.5” ; SM 58lbs 14”x 22”x 32.5”
— I did this in one trip with my little Mazda 3. SM box in front passenger seat. MED in the back seats. LRG in the trunk. Bungeed the trunk lid down. Red tag it. Only had a 2 mile drive. Unloaded myself at home. I’m a pint sized scrapper. 5’ 2” tall on a good day.
—There will be a lot of packing debris stuck to the grease on the tracks, you have to remove debris while leaving the grease to ensure proper draw function and installation. Pain in the kahzoo!
ASSEMBLY - APPROX 7.5 hrs:
2.25 hrs - Body & Top (No power tools really needed)
— I tried for casters but the the built in thread-pockets for the rubber feet are very well ‘adhered’ into the legs.
5.25 hrs - Draws
— Assembled, glued seems inside and out [does not include drying time], and installed. You’ll want a power phillips.
— Wood glue seeped into the wood and seams. I found that I had to make two passes. I feel this optional step Iis very important on the large draws. It all looked a ridiculous mess with bungee cords making sure all was tightly fighting together while it dried. Well worth it to me, because I sure as heck don’t want to have to fix things later. (I briefly tried to see if the draws would come out after installation and could not do it. They seem to be in for good, thus I did all I needed to do with them before inserting into track.)
— Top 4 shallow draws are 2.25” deep. (Two 18” x 24” pads of paper fit perfectly side by side in them)
— 5th row draws are 3.75” deep
— Last row of draws are 5” deep
— Bottom 4 draws will fit paper 17 x 24”
— Optional dividers for top 4 draws included
— ALL draws extend out fully, so you can see everything in the draw.
ADDED CLEAR PROTECTION - APPROX 4 hrs:
—Drying times not included. I just worked on another portion during drying.
—I tested Matte, and Satin (my favorite). But my testing lead me to choose Gloss. I used “Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch X2”. About five 12oz cans.
CUSTOM KNOBS -APPROX 1.25 hrs:
— Twelve knobs. Six of them I had to cut to proper length.
— The knobs that come with it are excessively small and cheap.
— I chose two different designs. Paid $27 for them total, 50% off at Hobby Lobby.
— I found that in order for the bolts of the knobs to be flush inside the draw, they had to be approx. 1.5” long. So don’t buy them shorter than that.
• I don’t have this piece against a wall. It sits free in the center of my studio
• You have to accept, this is not fine furniture. In fact it’s such a bear to get into your home and debox, that when you find damage/imperfections you try to live with it because you don’t want to package it up and go back!
• There are two things to consider in those really great reviews of this piece; 1. After all the hubbub most of us are just tickled that we FINALLY have a place for our stuff. This happiness spills over into the so called quality remarks. 2. Even if we think we paid too much for it we are not likely to say “I just spent 6-12 hours building a piece of junk!” because after all it reflects badly on our own judgement to do such a dumb thing.
• If you settle on this piece and have no help give yourself a few days to do it, so that if you get it done quickly you’ll feel awesome. If you don’t, you won’t be disappointed. I work for a living so it spanned 3 days.
• I really think that without the added expense and time to glue the draw seams, and add a protective coat I would be a very unhappy camper later down the road.
• Love my knobs! (Sorry had to say it.)
I’ve been dreaming of flat files for decades. I’m just happy to finally have one…. after 15 hours of work. So glad all my piles of papers are tucked away. I’m satisfied with the way it looks. I hope it holds up for decades to come. Best of luck to you. Yes, one person can do it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by PSG very good value
You have to have 2 people to put this together, the instructions are poorly written, but still not too difficult to understand. Very heavy, recommend putting it together very close to where you are going to use it. Was able to get on sale with free shipping - huge plus. The delivery was great, sooner than expected and driver handled the packages with care.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by pt Martha Stewart 42 inch/8 drawer flat file cabinet
The cabinet was as expected providing spacious storage. The instructions of some assembly required was misleading...and it certainly needed two people to assemble it. My husband thought some of the wood could have been of better quality. The cabinet offer varying heights in the drawers which make for convenient storage of man;y supplies with ease of assessability.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by artistlady Lovely, but a challenge to assemble...
I ordered two of the flat file cabinets. The first one I put together myself and it was a real challenge. The pieces are heavy and the weight increased with each assembled piece. My husband helped me with the second and it still took several hours.
The best news: all parts were there and all parts fit.
The assembled cabinets are truly lovely. The drawers are difficult to initially install but once fully in, they glide beautifully. I'm a working studio artist and needed these cabinets to store art papers and finished works in. I'm very happy with them.
