CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 19 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful capacity for artistic purposes! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you Martha Stewart for being so picky! You must have demanded quality and we get to benefit from your requirements! Thank you for an excellent piece of furniture that is handsome and capable of holding so much! I'm so pleased with this piece that I now have two at home and will order another two for our winter home. They are quite elaborate to put together but well worth the effort and if the directions are followed EXACTLY, it all works out well. An affordable piece that is so very useful. If all of Martha's "craft" line is this well made and this well priced, I am an extremely happy camper! Also, it is finished on all sides! September 17, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by The materials were sturdy yet easy to assemble. I was impressed with the quality and finish of the wood. The type of hardware made it easy to assemble. This is a piece of furniture that will last more than a lifetime. June 26, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great piece of furniture Assembly is a bit time consuming, but the quality is great. No issues, everything went together easily. June 18, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Lots of pieces This cabinet has 435 pieces to assemble -wood panels and hardware. It took us 2 days to complete this. One recommendation would be to use good quality wood glue anywhere two wood items meet and wait for it to dry before moving forward. I assembled the drawers with glue, in addition to all the hardware and waited a day to put the drawers in the cabinet, so they were dry and sturdy. Everything I ever been told was to use glue and screws when wood working.. It makes the end piece better. January 6, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by many problems with assembly To begin, My grandfather was a cabinet maker and my father was a carpenter, so I have a lot of education and experience with all kinds of woodworking. The Martha Stewart eight-drawer flat-file cabinet is a good looking product but the assembly is rife with bad hardware and sloppy manufacturing. Most of the assembly is done with pins and cam locks. I encountered problems with the threaded inserts for the pins pulling out of the particle board construction (no, I did not over torque them), and also breaking of the pot-metal cams when attempting to tighten. Several of the cams I could not get to lock completely due to misalignment having to do with bent pins and misaligned holes. Another problem is with the screws to hold the slider hardware to the drawers, or rather the quality of the wooden drawer sides. The wood is very soft and the short screws never tighten, the best that can be obtained is sinking them just far enough to have the head contact the sliders. The metal used for the slider assembly is so inferior that the metal buckled and several ball bearings fell out of the sliders while I attempted to put the drawers into the cabinet. Most of the screws and pins were bent or warped so that it was difficult to get a square alignment when assembling. All that aside, after a couple hours of construction and many repairs to split wood, loose ball bearings, stripped threaded inserts and other factors, I have ended up with a very nice looking cabinet. The dimensions are great (I use it to hold my art and photography supplies and equipment) and it fits the needs I had. I recommend it for the versatility but beware of bad hardware.
