Customer Reviews

Palamos 11 ft. Patio Umbrella in Berry-DISCONTINUED is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor Craftsmanship!!! Maybe I set my expectations a little to high because of how much it cost. The umbrella pole is very flimsy thin wall aluminum. There is a lot of flexure in the pole, which could be eliminated if they used better materials. The tilt feature would work great if the pole was stronger. Unless you are dead set on having this matching umbrella, I would recommend spending the money on a different umbrella. There are plenty of other color choices/patterns that will go with the dining set.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bell Umbrella The umbrella is a nice shape, and tilts very nicely, the only thing that was not good is that it didn't come with the stand to put it into. All the pictures show it, and I bought the whole collection, no where was it mentioned that it was a separate purchase, included with all the pop-ups that showed what else was in the collection it wasn't listed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a complete umbrella kit Despite what the picture shows the umbrella did not come with a stand. Both the umbrella and the table have warnings that an umbrella should not be used without a stand. Why show the stand in the picture and not include it, ESPECIALLY at this price? Very expensive and not complete.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, I think, but time will tell I purchased this to shade a 52 inch table. Bought it because it was specified as 11 feet coverage vs. the more common 9 feet, because it had a crank to raise the umbrella, and because it would tilt. The actual measurement on coverage is about 10 feet, not 11 feet. But then perhaps the actual measurement on a 9 foot umbrella would be less. The crank works well. However, to tilt it you must push a button and tilt it manually. You need to be reasonably tall and strong to do this. My wife could not do this. It is a pain. (For an umbrella I had a long time ago, all you needed to do was to keep cranking...a much easier way.) The umbrella looks nice although I like more plain styles better. The post itself looks, should I say, flimsy. It flexes quite a bit in mild breezes, and I wonder how long it will last. So, I give this a qualified 4 stars, subject to lowering my opinion if it does not last. The 4th star is for the 11th but really 10th foot, otherwise it would be 3 stars (average.) BTW, my nickname is not skycir, but I don't know why this computer screen picked that up and it will not allow me to change it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hardware Broken Love the looks of the umbrella, but the hardware supporting the shaft broke within 60 days and the shade no longer locks into place upright.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from An umbrella is only as good as its base This is a beautiful umbrella. Unfortunately - and mystifyingly to me - the manufacturer neither bundles with nor recommends an appropriate base. I ordered a base, installed everything and in one small gust, the base tipped and shattered, the umbrella crashed into my deck railing and snapped it. If you order this, get as wide and as tall a base as possible...it's a big umbrella. And I just had my deck repaired and re-stained in July. Sigh.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It doesn't stay upright This umbrella came much later than promised and was defective in that it only tilts but it won't stay straight up....and it spins around quite a bit in the umbrella stand...unusable.....going back.....even though I have the matching table and chairs I am hesitant to replace....I will try another brand.....I don't love the table either as there is no where for water to go so it sits on top.....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unique Umbrella This umbrella is truly beautiful in person. My wife and I thought that maybe it was a slightly "odd" looking shape in the photos, but now that it's on our deck with our Palamos table and chairs, we really appreciate it's unique shape. No one else we know has one like this, and it's so wide (11 ft) that it really covers the table and chairs abundantly. The umbrella is very smooth and easy to open & shut with the crank pulley system, and the rubbed bronze look of the pole and the spindles inside the umbrella give it a very elegant presence. The fabric on the umbrella is thick and woven feeling, same as the fabric on the cushions. And of course, it does tilt to really block the sun, if you need that feature. Very rich and high end for the price! It did NOT come with a base, as another reviewer has pointed out. Martha Stewart does NOT have a Palamos umbrella base for this set even though it is shown in a base in every photo of it. We wound up buying a very nice round, rubbed bronze base, from Kohl's (Sonoma collection) for an on sale price of just $19.99 that matches nicely. Other than having to buy a separate base, this was an excellent purchase.
