Customer Questions & Answers

can you cut a door to a smaller size lenght

Asked by: omjikk
not much. these are hollow doors and only have about a 1" frame. if you need to take more than a half inch off on any side, it will require some rebuilding.

does this come with the knob and hinges cut out?

Per THD yes it does. The answer in the Q&A is wrong per THD
Asked by: dcs
I have bought several of these doors. They are bored for the knob, but do not have hinges routed out. if they did they would have to be identified right, left, inside swing outside swing. you will need to mark hinges and chisel or rout the indentation.

Does the door come with the hinge cutouts already cut?

Asked by: RDP
No. there is a bored version and an un-bored version.. Hinges must be marked and chiseled or routed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Upgrading my doors I was totally surprised how easy it was for me to change out my plane hollow doors for the six panel hollow doors . Since the doors already had a bore all I had to do was just put the hinges on . And to my surprise it was so simple I ended up replacing all my doors .

Rated 1 out of 5 by from cheap door made from paper. If you do not need to cut to length this door than it is OK to buy but if you need to use this door in bathroom where you put tile or bedroom where you added 3/4 inch hard floor than you will need to cut this door to a length and there are troubles wait you. Problem is that most cheap doors from Masonite made from pressed paper frame and even there to cut cost a frame is about 1/2 inch only. So if you need to cut some material of the door more than 1/2 inch you will find yourself looking inside of the emptiness between door panels. Look to the attached picture. Priming of the door is also a joke . You will need to re-prime door before finish coat otherwise black edges of pressed panels will be noticeable and you need to paint door again. I may understand they need to cut cost but we pay for this product ~$40 so we expect some quality and value. Not?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Basic Door This is your basic interior door. One post identified that if you cut more than about an inch off the bottom you'll expose the hollow core. If you have the tools to cut off part of the bottom of the door then you should be able to rip a 2x4 to the dimension of the hollow core and glue it into the bottom. I've done it many times. Its very easy to do and restores the rigidity of the bottom of the door.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hollow is as hollow does These 6 panel hollow core doors are nice in appearance, but be careful when sizing them. If you trim one inch or more off of the bottom of the door, you will be able to view the inside of your hollow core door.
