This fan is probably about as quiet as it can be. There is no detectable hum or vibration, just the sound of rushing air. It moves a lot of air. Judging by how hot the outflow is, it must be reducing the attic temperature significantly. Installation was simple and didn't take very long.

I read other reviews about this fan being a little noisy. NOT. This fan was super easy to install and being above my bedroom I have to open the closet to make sure it's running. I bought the recommended automatic vent cover also. From start to finish took 2hrs. The A/C runs less than half the time it used to. We are about to install more of these in our barns.

Installed in about four hours. Next day could tell that my air conditioner was working less and the upstairs was staying cooler. Next light bill dropped twenty dollars over same month last year. Is a great investment

I installed 2 fans, they are terrific at pulling out the hot air. I wish I'd have done this 24 years ago instead of house fans and portable air conditioners. Now, on hot days, the house is 7-10 degrees cooler and I haven't had to run the portable A/C. 85 degree days and the house is comfortable at 70-72. My house is only 1400 square feet including garage and I probably would have been ok with just 1 fan. Noise is not a factor, the South fan is only 6 feet from by bedroom and not noticeable. Don't wait 24 years to get one, you'll really notice a big difference in house temperature.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by DavidM Easy Installation, works fine so far
I installed it yesterday. It was really simple.
I held my trouble light against the thermostat to test it and it worked perfectly.
Previous comments complained about the screws hitting the fan...not a problem, I just put notches in each of the fan blades so they could spin freely.
I guess MasterFlow fixed the issue. My screws were low profile so there was plenty of space.
I am happy with the fan and recommend it, especially at $84 (the price in June 2013).
