Product Overview

The Master Flow 500/900 CFM Solar-Powered Roof-Mount Exhaust Fan will help remove excess heat and moisture from your attic to protect your roofing system from premature deterioration. The Dual Powered unit will run on free solar power (500 CFM) when the sun is shining on the solar panel but will automatically switch to house power (900CFM) if it is cloudy or nighttime. Hot attic air is removed by the fan as fresh air is drawn in through your existing intake vents. On house power the 24 volt DC brushless motor is extremely efficient as it uses 75% less power than a typical wired attic fan. With the Dual Powered unit, you have the best of both worlds! The impact resistant, 10 watt solar panel has a tilt and swivel design to provide ideal sun exposure. Recommended usage for this unit is one unit per 1000 sq. ft. of attic space with a minimum intake ventilation of 240 sq. in. of net free area.

  • Adjustable thermostat with Dual-Power controller
  • 120 volt AC connection required
  • Extremely efficient motor design
  • Automatically switches between solar and house power
  • Airflow up to 500 CFM on solar power, airflow up to 900 CFM on house power
  • Miami-Dade County Approved, Florida Building Code Approved, & Texas Department of Insurance Listed
  • ETL Listed
  • Extra-wide flashing helps prevent leaks
  • Roof-mount installation only

I live in Tucson AZ. I have what is called an "Arizona room." It's a porch attached to the house with one wall that is screened. I smoke but only in this room, not in my house. I want something that will suck up the smoke and vent it out of the room.

Will this unit do that?

A secondary consideration: Will it pull heat out of the room even though the room is partially screened in; thus partially an outdoor space?

Answer:
The solar fans have to have direct sunlight contacting the solar panel. It will provide 500 cfm's of air during the strongest time of sunlight and 900 cfm's of air when in hybrid mode (night operation). Please call MasterFlow Technical Services at 800-211-9612, M-F 8A-5P EDT, with any additional questions.

Thank you for contacting MasterFlow ... It is possible to place a switch on the AC side of the inverter (not the solar DC side). Not recommended but possible. If you would choose not to have the AC side of the fan to operate, I would suggest a higher set point for the on position of the thermostat. Set the on point to 120 degrees F and the AC side would run only if the attic temperature exceeds 120 Read More

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This is a good investment Great product , easy to installed .It will save you some money in the summer. September 7, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good hhybrid solution Easy to install. but in my case I retrofit it into an existing AC attic fan whose motor burnt out. So I can't say how a "from scratch" install would be. I do notice the attic still pretty hot, but to be fair this fan is not rated for the large space I'm trying to cool. I like that it's a hybrid solution, so will run on the solar panel whenever there is sun, and will go to AC when there's no sun. The verdict is out on the durability/reliability, as I just installed it a month ago. August 24, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cools off the upstairs Very easy install, solar power starting working before the fan was even installed fully. Removed super heated air immediately felt the difference upstairs within an hour when the ceiling fans were operating as well. The constant air movement is wonderful for keeping the upstairs livable.
