Customer Questions & Answers

How does this system work with corners? Is there s different post or clip to buy that allows the fence to turn?

I don't see any such options at homedepot. Anyone have a link to where the corner post components can be purchased? Thank you.

First of all, I am sad that HD decided to carry these products, but for some unknown reason, decided not to carry the few supplemental items that are listed on Master Halco's Installation instructions (you can find that PDF online). There are only 5 things needed: 4 types of screws, and the corner post clips. My only guess is that the parent company would rather charge more money for these very specific items? Not sure. Anyway, I was in shock to look everywhere online and it was near impossible to find the corner post clips. I even called HD, and they said, "If it's not on our website, we can't special order it." HD - I hope you choose to carry these few supplemental items in the future, if possible! SO, I decided to do my own research and I hope this helps a lot of people that were frustrated like me. I think I found a solution. I went over to the end of the lumber section (by the concrete) where they have all of the joist connection metal pieces. I found an L-Bracket that works... it is the STC-R Roof Truss Clip (464-163). I put it up against the postmaster post and it does stick out a little bit on the side, but the 2 x 4 will stick out at that same length, and so it will be covered. Additionally, your corner pickets will cover up any other metal showing. You should then be able to use the rest of the directions on the installation PDF online. To be fair, I have purchased these L brackets, but haven't put them on yet (just bought them tonight), so this is not a guaranteed solution. I will put them on this weekend, and I will update this response if they end up not working. I hope this helps!

what kind of rail screw or cover screw can I use?

what kind of rail screw or cover screw can I use? HD doesn't carry the screws and corner post clip mentioned on their installation instruction. What are the alternatives? Thanks,

http://www.homedepot.com/p/GRK-Fasteners-8-in-x-1-1-4-in-Cabinet-Screw-100-per-Pack-114069/203556408 I used the 8 x 1-1/4" GRK Pan Head Cabinet Screw available at HD. It's rated for exterior use and use in pressure treated wood. These are the gold/brass colored "Uber Grade" screws. They look very similar to the Master Halco Screws. I like how these drive. I think the 1-1/2" would work well also. The thickness of the post should prevent it from driving through the back.

Set in concrete?

Do these posts need to be set in concrete, or are they driven in similar to T-posts?

Can these be used for gate ends also?
Asked by: nick
Yes. The recommendation is to use two of them open side to open side. We did this and filled the hole with concrete for added strength. Fill them after the gate hardware is installed though or you'll have to drill through metal and concrete.

We did not use prefab panels due to living in an area with high winds and knowing that the prebuilt panel quality is not as good. We did space the pickets slightly larger than normal and secured using screws instead of a nail gun to accommodate wind as well. We have had several bad winds come through and most recently 75mph that left many fences in our area destroyed(mostly round posts that bent or wooden posts that snapped). Ours still looks perfect. I will add that the cover boards we used on the inside of the fence do have screws that go through to the pickets on the other side which I think may add to the strength. Would definitely use these again. Well worth the added price.

I like how there are holes drilled about 1" from each other so you can screw your rails anywhere from the top to bottom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Look of wood with the strength of steel! I installed these over a year ago in big, wonderful, windy Wyoming. I've installed wood fences before using wood posts but they don't tend to handle the wind very well and they also warp or have other defects that make building straight fences that last difficult. These are very sturdy. Yep they're more expensive but I don't have to worry about the wind anymore and my fence still looks as straight and true as the day I installed it. My fence has endured multiple 60mph + windstorms with ease and looks great. The neighbors all want to know where I got these. I highly recommend these posts; they are going to last for a very long time.
