Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by mauka No mounting template and poor quality mounting hardware.
The Master name used to mean quality to me, but this hasp is just junk. First problem is there is no mounting template to align the screw holes, and because the screws are hidden when the hasp is closed you can't clamp the hasp to the door to line things up. So you have to guess at the best mounting. Next the "included" hardware is the worst I have ever encountered, all of the Phillips wood screw heads striped about 3/4 of the way down. There are eight mounting holes and the hardware included the six wood screws and two 2" bolts. Are they expecting you to hack saw the bolts to length? I returned it - not recommended. Made in China.

This product has some very good features and some very poor features. It appears to be well made of good materials, with exception of the mounting hardware. Master really should include a template for drilling the mounting holes or at least give the dimension between the two components. Without the correct distance the hasp will not lay flat. The screws are too short and made of soft material. When mounting on 1/2" trim there is less than 1/2" of screw in the door framing. The screw slots will round out even when using the correct phillips bit and a low clutch on the drill. So, Master Lock folks, include a template and quality mounting hardware, and I'll give the hasp a 5 star rating.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DanD Under no circumstances buy this hasp
I was amazed, when installing it, to find a major flaw in the actual design of the hasp, such that it CANNOT be installed properly to lay flat against any surface.
Like all hasps, this consists of a hidden "tab" that you screw to a surface, the hasp itself that folds over the tab thus protecting it, and the hook that you screw on the other side of the door or gate. Well, it just so happens that when you screw the "tab" flat against a surface, you cannot fold the hasp itself over the tab!!! The sides of the hasp prevent you from doing that. Thus, the hasp itself won't lay flat against the door or gate, rather they stick out at a 20 degree angle or so.
Not sure if I described it properly, but trust me, this is not the hasp to buy. Walk away.

I shop at Home Depot all the time. I really need the win so that I can really get the things I need. I always come and find what I need and things that I dint intend on getting that day. I fix the little odds and ends around my house and I love it. I do my own locks I have purchased cabinet material to re face my cabinets. I do what I can.

This is a great product, regardless of the price. When price is taken into consideration it is also a great value. Use caution when installing on soft wood. As screws tighten down the shackle becomes rigid, not loose and flexible, and the hinge binds, both contributing to very stiff operation. I recommend tightening the shackle side before locating the hinge side.
