I bought two of these. One lasted about two weeks and the other only 3 days. On both of them the third tumbler down became hard to turn and even on the right combination the locks would not open. I had to cut them off with bolt cutters. Don’t waste your money.

Well built lock, easy to program and use with the exception that the stainless lock body and chrome tumblers with no contrast black for the numbers make them very hard to read except in the brightest of light.

This is the second of these locks that I have purchased. We use it to lock up a folding shopping cart outside. Since we live in the city, it has saved the shopping cart from being stolen at least four times!
This cheap lock with an old chain stops the bottle collectors from stealing it. A very low cost solution to a big security problem. Now, here is the problem. This is not designed to survive bad weather. It has to be replaced every year. I still recommend it. Avery low cost solution to a big security problem

Absolute garbage. I purchased two locks and had to return both to HD. The combination changed on the 1st one so I wasn't able to get it open. With the second lock, the combination changed while it was open so I could not close it. And unlike a keyed lock, there is minimal movement between the open and closed position so it doesn't give you much confidence that the lock will hold. Luckily, HD has a great return policy and they didn't give me any grief.

I just purchased 2 of these. Only one worked. These are lightweight small locks meant to keep honest people honest. It's not the size that is the problem, its the resettable portion. I was able to set two of the three tumblers, but because of poor Chinese manufacturing tolerances, I was unable to set the 3rd tumbler. I've bought the 4 tumbler version of these and had no problems, but save your money and time and stay away from these.

I got the lock from the HD to put on my garage, because there were some tools in there but I felt the lock was still strong enough to not be the weakest link. Well, after one week it can no longer be snapped shut again, no matter how creative I get in squeezing and spinning the dials. How hard can it be to make a three digit combo lock? They've been around for hundreds of years, and they've been mass produced for a hundred years! No stars and no excuses at all for failing on such a simple product. Now to drive all the way back to HD for another, hopefully a different brand.

It says that you can change the combination by turning the shackle 90 degrees and pressing down then changing the combination, but with our experience at work (we used this lock to temporarily lock a gate) you can just unlock it and look at it for a few seconds and then the combination you had previously set would no longer work. if the shock of placing the lock down on a counter in the unlocked position is all it takes to change the combination, it breaks too easy. This is the lock with trust issues, it doesnt even trust the person who sets the combination.

I wanted a combination lock to use outdoors on my fence gate and garden shed. I bought two of the Master Lock Brass 1 3/16" combination locks for the purpose. Supposedly they were built for outside use!
Now less then a year later one of the locks is nearly impossible to dial in the combination due to stiffness and corrosion , and the second lock had to be cut off and thrown away.
I have used dozens of "Masterlocks" through the years and they have always given me good service. Unfortunately these two locks have not!
