Can I smoke an 8 or 10 lb brisket in this one

Asked by: Weezie
Yes without a problem. I usually like to sear meat over a screaming hot fire for 3 to 4 minutes per side to crust the surface before smoking.

This smoker is very light weight. It is not made for 16 hour smokes. Ribs, burgers, whole chicken and even a butt would do fine. I see complaints about keeping the heat up. If you will get a cheap rack to sit on top of the coals pan to allow air under the coals it works fine. A 10 dollar add on thermometer is needed because the one that comes with it is not accurate. So basically for $49 plus about another $20 to upgrade you can have a really good inexpensive cooker. I guarantee I can cook ribs on this which will turn out as good as the ones on a $800 Oklahoma Joe's or Big Green Egg.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from bullet smoker Easy to assemble! I had to drill small holes on the charcoal/wood chip pan for ventilation because the fire kept goin out! After the holes drilled worked like a charm!

Drill several holes in charcoal bowl, bottom & sides 4 air flow. Reverse legs to point outward. Place smoker over a 10-12” H metal pan to catch ashes. Install new gauge on side of smoker, height of top grill; buy a remote temp sensor.

The grill material are very thin and I’m sure will only last a couple of years. This grill will be some-what difficult to assemble for someone not familiar with a smoker of this type. The instruction requires you pre-season the smoker prior to first use. That is to coat the smoker with a light oil and heat to a temperature to 400 degrees for 30 minutes; however the smoker will only attain temperatures of 220, nearly not hot enough. The fire pan should have vent holes in order to create a draft to keep charcoal burning.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I really like it so far I have only use it once so far, but it got the job done. It kept the temp to 200 degrees consistently, I wish it had air feeds towards the bottom so I could raise the temp if need be. I tried everything to get it hotter and it wouldn't get pass 200, typically I like to smoke at around 250 - 275 degrees. And I wish it was a lil bigger so I could cook more food. But Other those minor issues, I really like it and would recommend it for those who cook small meals especially for $49.00.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent for 50 bucks. It's a good smoker for the money. I've seen complaints about getting the temperature up and keeping it up. I suggest a good foundation of charcoal and then add Kingsford would LOGS not chunks or chips. Kind of a pain to clean but all in all it's worth the money. If you keep your pan wet you don't have to worry about dried out meat for sure. I think my temp gauge was bad so I bought a different one for 8 bucks. I give it a solid 'meh'. Not too good not too bad.

The temperature is easy to control and it is really simple to use. However, the directions for smoking were really general with no explanation of the water bowl or wood chip bowl uses or placement. And the cleaning of the grates is really arduous. We are still experimenting with ways to make that easier.
