Customer Questions & Answers

Does this come with an air/smoke damper?

Asked by: Nate
No it doesn't. Also, that answer about having a vent in the back... Also, NO it doesn't. It's a solid box with zero vents.

Does it come with a users manual or is this another device where you have to "go on line" to see how to use it?

Asked by: markm
A users manual comes with the smoker and even has some basic recipes.

Do i put a Turkey directly on a rack or do i place it on something.

Asked by: hoop52
Yes you can put it directly on the rack. You can also put a disposable aluminum roaster pan on the bottom rack with a little water in it to help catch any drippings and help with the cleanup.

Can you buy a better seal for around the door?

Yes. You can use gasket tape or pretty much any gasket that is made for high temp.

Customer Reviews

30 in. Electric Analog Smoker is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 56.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME SMOKER It pays to read the reviews. I bought this smoker based in the reviews, which were very helpful and right on. This is the best product of it's kind that I have ever owned. It does what they say and then some. We smoked a half rack of ribs, 12 sausage links, 10 chicken thighs and a salmon fillet at the same time. They all turned out great. We then smoked corn on the cob, potatoes and peppers which all turned out great. The smoke flavor was incredible, the meat was tender and juicy. We used alder wood chips and apple juice in place of the water. I can see ous cooking with this smoker a lot. Now on to the beef jerky. Good luck and enjoy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very disappointed I was very exited to get a masterbuilt pro 30in analog smoker before Christmas. Opened up the box, followed the instructions perfectly. Ran it threw the recommended test per the instructions. Went and bought my first piece of meat to smoke unit wouldn't hold temp above 200 degrees. Read some reviews about the outside temp having an effect on unit but the funny thing is I live in Arizona we're the winter months are at 70 degrees. So instead of a cook time of 6 hrs it took nearly 11 hrs to get 5 pound pork to 187 degrees. So I decided maybe another day where the temp would be warmer. So I went out and bough St. Louis cut ribs. An easy cook and small meat content to actually smoke. Fired up my masterbuilt and the temp wouldn't get above 180 for 5 hrs with the analog controller turned all the way up. There was no wind, it was 75 and sunny out. So to say that I am disappointed is an understatement. I went online and read reviews about heat being losed so I taped up all holes and seams. Still wouldn't bring temp above 200 degrees with controller turned all the way to its hottest setting. So a 5 hr cook turned to 8. I hope masterbuilt would contact me with an option of returning this unit as it is defective.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great smoker but water pan and chip pan are both WAY TOO SMALL! We recently upgraded to this smoker. It was very easy to put together. We LOVE how the food tastes when it's done. My biggest gripe is the fact that the water pan AND chip pan are WAY TOO SMALL!!!! Therefore, about every hour or so you have to open the smoker, add new liquid and REPLACE the used chips. The chip pan is a pain to get out of its compartment, especially when it's hot. In order to get around the water pan situation, we've started putting an inexpensive foil pan on the very bottom tray to use as our water pan. This is actually helpful becuase this pan catches the dripping fat and liquid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great smoker I'm not stranger to smokers - my last one was rusted out and developed a short - and since HD doesn't carry the old one I thought this one looked pretty good. Electric smokers aren't very complicated so to me it's about construction, how well it hold a temperature, and to a very minor degree the assembly. This is solidly built. Insulated sides keep the temperature stable and the door (also insulated) has a great pull latch to keep it tightly shut. The latch is also adjustable (woohoo!). The door lifts right off the hinges (without tools) for easy cleaning of the inside (and door). The are three meat racks inside that have plenty of space. The racks slide in are have a lip on the back that catches a 'stop' so you can pull them out for loading/unloading and not worry about them falling out. Assembling this was stupid easy. Once I unpacked it all and took off all of the protective foam I found great instructions and a surprise - the screws required were in an easy to open blister back and clearly labelled. I don't think it took even 15 minutes to mount the legs, the handles, the door handle and the thermometer. Inside is a water pan and a smoke chip pan with lid (important!) that sit on a rack at the bottom above the heating element. The water pan sits a few inches above the element (good, won't boil off too fast) and the chip pan sits almost on the element (also good). The cover of the wood chip pan keeps grease out of the wood chips. At the very bottom is a drip pan that holds a cup or two of drippings. It slides out easily for draining and cleaning, The thermostat is pretty good. I'm aiming for 225 degrees and it's keeping things withing 10 degrees of there. I can't ask for more without spending big bucks on a digital thermostat. The only feature I'd like is a wood chip pan that pulls out for refilling without opening the door but that's not really a big deal.....but it would make this smoker perfect. I'm very happy with this smoker! I'll be happier when the bacon explosion is done (look those up, they rock)
