I had an electric smoker before and this one is so much more "smokier". The bottom door allows you to put more wood in with out loosing heat. Great bang for your buck.

The grill is great and what I expected. I received the package damaged and there were a few scratches on the grill. There was no damage that prevented the grill from working.

I received this as a gift for my birthday, I wanted one so it was perfectt. Fired it up for the initial burn off empty with no water and when the temp soared I was bummed because it was on low. Since then I have learned that with food and a full water tray low is about 240-200 depending on the wind and your damper settings.

I checked this unit out in store then ordered it online as HD was offering free shipping. My thought was to avoid the hassle of fitting it in my car. Shipped from CA to NY, took ~ week. Easy to assemble, instructions and labeling were good. Unit did have damage, the front door has two dents / creases across it and the handle on one damper is broken. I kept it as it is cosmetic damage and I didn't want to wait for replacement parts / exchange. Buy yours in store.
Do not follow the recipes in the instruction manual. Cook temps should be higher unless you like brisket as tough as leather.
DON'T TRUST THE THERMOMETER, get a digital one
I rubbed the unit down with oil and broke it in, bringing temperatures over 400F for about 20 minutes.
First cook I made a 10lb Pork Butt and 2 full racks of Spare Ribs. The foot print / size is small so you have to cut the ribs into smaller lengths to get them to fit. The cook took ~10 hours (ribs took only 5 hrs). Temperature stayed at 270 +/- 15F of what I wanted using med-low setting on Propane with a couple pieces of charcoal in the pan. Temperatures outside were around 40F with no wind.
Soak you woodchips! I used hickory and tried unsoaked/ soaked and also tried foil 'bombs' (wood chips in a foil ball with a hole at the top) to keep the flames off of them. The foil bombs worked good. Water pan is small so you need to fill it ~every 45 to 60 minutes. I added wood chips at this same interval but only for the first 4 to 5 hours. Also, add a foil pan to the lowest rack while cooking to help minimize the mess and catch the drippings. The cook went flawless, the food was maybe the best I've ever had. Fall of the bone ribs and the pork could have been shredded using a plastic spoon. Really nice, dark bark and deep smoke ring. That said the butt went into the smoker after only 15 minutes of rest after coming out of the fridge.
I cooked chicken quarters and made some chipotle peppers in my last cook. I've become more confident with the unit and it's behavior. Med-Low temp is the sweet spot for ~270F. Again, the water pan needs to be filled every 45 to 60 minutes. Wood chips need to be added every 45 to 60 minutes. Beyond that you can walk away.
Key features are that it is propane gas fueled and that there is a second, small door for you to add woodchips. Look for this in any unit. The food is better than an electric smoker and there is way, way less hassle than using an offset smoker.

We've used this smoker several times already this summer with awesome results. As long as you are diligent in checking the temp, wood chips, and water pan every 1 1/2-2 hours you'll have success.

I am very happy with my dual fuel. Everything was in good shape when I received it. Nothing damaged. Instructions were easy to follow. I am doing my presmoke seasoning while I am writing this. Its up to 425 degrees no problem. Very nice unit. Not many seems for smoke to escape from either.

I bought this smoker when it went on sale for fathers day. I used it for the first time on 4th of July to make ribs. I was amazed on how it held a temperature of 225 degrees for 6 hours straight. When you first fire it up the temperature would fluctuate until i found the sweet spot, which is fairly easy thanks to the flame control knob. Don't bother looking at more expensive smokers, this one is awesome. The only downside is that you have to cut the ribs down to 14 inches so they can fit. That wasn't a big deal for me.

The smoker is an excellent replacement for the one which died. The Home Depot service rep made sure that everything was done well because this was a part of multiple purchases. At first it appeared that I was going to have to take the smoker home in a box and assemble it myself, but the customer rep made sure that I had one put together before I left. I've already used it once and it was great. The water bowl is a little small and has to be checked frequently.
