I had an electric smoker before and this one is so much more "smokier". The bottom door allows you to put more wood in with out loosing heat. Great bang for your buck.

This was my first smoker and I'm glad I chose it. It is well made and easy to use. One of the main issues with smoking is temperature control. This unit can stay at 200 degrees for longer smokes and go to 350 degrees if you need it. All with very close control. After using it three times I have a system down that works for me. You need to get into it yourself and see what works for you. This unit covers the bases.
Some tips I found online that worked for me. Get the replacement gasket for a large Green Egg and apply it to the cabinet to seal the doors. Both components are metal and did not seal to keep the smoke in. A $12 fix. Also, I replaced the chip pan with a second hand 10" cast iron skillet with three carriage bolts added to act as legs above the burner. It made the chips burn evenly and spread the heat out. I had to cut the handle down to make it fit. A $6 fix.

It is not the easiest thing to assemble but once assembled works great. I like to smoke at low temperatures (225-250 F) but the control dial is very sensitive. I usually spend a lot of time nudging the control dial as it gets too hot or too cold. Of course I had a similar problem with smoking on my grill. But I would not go back to smoking on my grill now that I have this smoker. I can do more meat and I can add water and chips by opening the bottom door without losing a lot of heat in the top where the meat is.

Easy to assemble. Ignition isn't the greatest but using a but my grill isn't any better... Lights easily with match or lighter.
Easy to load and re-load wood chips. Double door operation makes it nice to keep heat in the main cabinet at all times

I upgraded from a more basic smoker. Though made in China, everything assembled easily, holes and screws all lined up, no missing parts and the instructions were easy to follow. My first attempt with the new smoker was ribs and chicken ... excellent!

Purchased on 9/11/16, first used on 9/25/16. While assembly instructions are straight forward and pretty easy, the propane temperature control is horrible. Almost like the burner has too many BTU's for this size unit. Tried to keep smoker around 200-215 degrees to smoke a brisket and the ONLY way to accomplish this feat is by barely cracking open the propane tank to allow a trickle flow to the burner, even when the control knob for the burner is set to its lowest point. Otherwise, if you don't do this, the temperature DOES NOT go below 300 degrees. You should not have to touch the propane tank after you open the tank valve. Temperature control should be done ONLY by the gas control valve on the smoker and your air dampers each side and back of unit. Will be returning for a refund to purchase a better quality smoker.

The grill is great and what I expected. I received the package damaged and there were a few scratches on the grill. There was no damage that prevented the grill from working.

I received this as a gift for my birthday, I wanted one so it was perfectt. Fired it up for the initial burn off empty with no water and when the temp soared I was bummed because it was on low. Since then I have learned that with food and a full water tray low is about 240-200 depending on the wind and your damper settings.
