How many turkeys can you smoke at one time?

Asked by: gatorbait3
I've done 12 4 lbs butterball breast roasts at once. Of course, I had to rotate every hour to make sure everything finished at the same time.

Can you hold a constant 225 degree temp?

Asked by: paul
Yes, it will...easily. Like noted in the previous answer, just a little past low with the vent cracked will be close to 225. However, don't trust the built in thermometer. Mine reads 50 degrees low. I put a ceramic dish in the middle and then measure its temp with a laser thermometer (about $30). I've smoked meat in this smoker in temps all the way from 0 degrees to 100 degrees outside. The cabinet is big enough that the temperature is easy to maintain, and it's fairly consistent between shelves. If the unit can't maintain the temp, then make sure the water pan is full. The humidity that it provides is what helps hold the temperature consistent. Anytime I've had an issue with temp is was because I let the water pan go dry.

How can I purchase the fire bowl for this unit?

Is the bowl on top of the gas fire
Asked by: CK
This is an old question to answer, but I put a steel pie pan on top of the fire bowl to hold my wood. What I found was that the slots in original fire bowl allowed wood and ashes to fall to the bottom of the unit and make a mess. When I'm finished with a smoking session, I just have to dump the ashes. The legs on my fire bowl rusted really badly to the point it needs to be replaced. However, the bottom of the unit is now rusting out around the hole where the burner is at so I'm replacing the entire unit. At least they died together. If I was looking for a new fire bowl because it rusted out, I would probably just engineer a little three leg stand to hold the pie plate.

Only one burner of the 2 burners works, looks like I will have to take the burner system down and reassemble. If the reassembly does not work that makes things even worse. The instructions are extremely hard to read and understand, the only saving grace is that you do not need a lot of tools to put it together. Step by step instructions need a ton of work.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Masterbuilt smoker Biggest piece of junk I have ever bought. Smoky mountain use to build these smokers and they were good quality smokers. Masterbuilt turned it into cheap junk. Legs broke off with in a year and started rusting out immediately. I followed all cleaning recommendations and kept smoker inside when not using. Don't waste your money.

Hard time getting it over 200 deg. even when fully cranked. Fixed this by lengthening the fire pan legs about 1 inch with sheet metal and pop rivets. This lets in more heat and easily solved the problem. Sadly this didn't come with sausage hanger but I attached one from my old dead smoker and now this smoker works like a charm. It willeasily smoke for 3 to 4 hours without messing with it.

I bought one of these, and had it shipped to my sisters, as we were visiting my sister in Georgia, and she wanted to get into smoking. Assembly was pretty simple, and the directions were clear( even the seasoning process). The only major drawback was that the door was a little off, and would not square up when closed, and leaked in the top left corner.( A little R.T.V, and some LAVALOC, took care of the leaks, and just holding the door square as you close and latch it worked for me.) During the visit, we smoked 2 pork butts, multiple racks of spare, and babyback ribs, and a 15 pound brisket. Food turned out so well, that before I left to return home, I ordered a second one so it would be waiting for me when I got home! I assembled mine the day I returned(same issues as my sisters) Completed the same mods, and got the same killer results!!! (FYI, Get yourself a 8/10 inch cast iron skillet for you wood, and place it on top of the provided wood pan, as using just the provided pad lets the wood smolder for a few minutes, then just bursts into flames! The skillet lets your wood chunks last waaaaay longer!!!) Long story short, get one, don't sweat the small stuff, and start smoking!!!
