CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Product works exactly as advertised This compressor rocks. I did a lot of research, and actually bought a competitor product that didn't measure up. I am amazed at the amount of air that this compressor provides for the money. The product has a sturdy feel to it, and I expect it will work well for years to come. Thanks, HD, for this excellent product at an excellent price. August 23, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great compressor, cheap drain valve Like the other reviewers before me, I found this compressor to be great. It fills up quickly, it's quiet, and it flows a large amount of CFM. After I got it setup I went around and started sealing up miscellaneous leaks; which is to be expected on a brand new compressor... not a big deal. What was a big deal was the drain valve. After applying some sealant to the threads, and reinstalling it, the cheap chinese made 90 degree black iron piece on the bottom of the tank snapped flush. Needless to say I was pretty irritated. I will be replacing this tomorrow with some brass pieces instead. Do yourselves a favor and just replace this part right off the bat; trust me, it will fail eventually anyway.. might as well replace it right away. November 17, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Band For The Buck!!! Let me start buy saying I own a sand blasting and powder coating business as well as a speed shop. This compressor is quiet compared to my kobalt and ingersol rand. It keeps up with every air tool i have. i have owned it about a month. My only complaints as other have mentioned are the ball valved and the cheap pipe fittings that are rusted and filled with slag. November 28, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Compressor for the money; poor design for drain valve, though. This compressor is a good value; we were looking for a relatively high-CFM rate for cabinet sand blasting, and this unit seemed to fit the bill at over 18 CFM. The price jumps dramatically when you look at higher-output units. However, there is what we think is a design flaw in the drain apparatus at the bottom of the tank. Instead of a simple threaded plug, the manufacturers have installed a 1/4" 90 degree black-iron 'street' fitting in the bottom of the tank, attached to a 6" straight pipe, and ending in a ball-valve. While much more convenient for draining the tank, this setup is vulnerable to damage, especially when moving the compressor. The unit was delivered bolted to a pallet. Even with 2 of us, it was difficult to get it off the pallet while being mindful of the drain valve, etc. We thought we got it off the pallet ok, but when we filled that tank, we found that the 90 degree street fitting was cracked, and ultimately broke off. We had to use a spiral bolt extractor to get the remains out of the bottom of the tank, and replaced it with a brass fitting, which also should hold up better to the moisture in the tank. We don't if we broke the fitting, or if it came that way. Unless they put the compressor on the pallet with a crane, I don't know how they could have done it without causing damage. In any case, it was a relatively easy fix. In all other respects, a great unit. October 19, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best buy!! I took a long time planning my new garage and felt the compressor choice was equally as important. Well my choiceof the MaxAir was spot on. Very quick to build pressure, quiet, easy to wire and adjust this compressor is perfect for anthing including spraying. First it will build the garage and then handle my projects. May 7, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Starting to have problems I was holding out on this review till i used the compressor for a few months so I could accurately review the product in its entirety. At first glance the compressor gives you the appearance that it will last you for years to come....but then you get a little closer and realize that cheap parts were used and shoddy craftsmanship is every where you look. I bought this compressor about 4 months ago and opted to pick it up at the store. Once I had the compressor brought to the house and hooked it up I allowed it to build air pressure and I immediately heard a leak. Turns out someone failed to install the ferrule correctly on the little plastic line that runs to the pressure switch. Once I fixed that issue I noticed I had another leak on the bottom of the tank where the 90* heads out for the drain. Upon inspection I found that it was cracked and cross threaded so I had to fix that issue as well. Fast forward to tonight and I now noticed that my compressor has kicked on twice in the last hour with no use.....so I go out to the garage to see whats leaking and I found that there was air coming out of the vent for the crank case......so that tells me I now have air leaking past the rings. Needles to say im highly upset that I paid all that money for a compressor and Im having all these issues and its not even 6 months old. I will call the manufacturer tomorrow as well as home depot and give them a chance to make things right. Hopefully they will resolve the issue. August 17, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Its just OK. I read many reviews boasting about this compressor. Its nothing special. Its very loud like any other compressor. It takes a rather long time to build pressure. I dont know if the CFM is really what it says. Mine came set with the pressure switch shutoff at 150psi, and would turn on at 110. It took so extremely long to get from 110 to 150 that I turned the pressure switch down just to reduce its cycle time a tad bit and not have to listen to the thing so much. My air system has ZERO leaks. When I am not using anything, pressure will only fall 8-10psi over the span of the entire day... and thats probably just from the air cooling. It is an OK compressor and I would not say that I am unhappy with it. But, based on the specs and reviews, I was crossing my fingers for something better. Dont get your hopes up, you get what you pay for. December 31, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by fair price the brackets that hold the air filters on were defective. All of the fittings leaked air. After calling customer service I called the company that makes them to get replacement parts. They sent me new parts without any problem. I fixed the air leaks myself. March 27, 2013
