how many watts 1800?
Asked by: mike
If one multiplies the amps (17.9 running amps quoted on manufacturer's website) times the volts (220), which is the standard formula, that would be 3938.

what is the decible level of this thing?

I want to install it in my garage that is attached to my house So the noise it emits is a deciding factor in my purchase of this unit. no decibel amount = no purchase
Asked by: PAPA
I don't have a decibel meter, but it is a lot quieter than the red one they sell in the store, and infinitely quieter than the airless direct drive compressors.

60-Gal. Vertical, Electric Powered Air Compressor is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from solid build quality, awesome features great value! Awesome setup for a shade tree mechanic to full on shop. Comes with features you have to buy elsewhere. By far the quietest compressor compared to husky or industrial air as I have had both in the last 6 months and both the husky and industrial air have failed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good not great quality Since this compressor is assembled in the USA I was anxious to give a try. I have a small auto repair shop. The compressor was well crated and arrived via Home Depot delivery as advertised. The stickers are easily removable. I had no trouble with the bottom mounted air valve I do have a problem with the 1/2" NPT outlet valve, its leaking even after 2 different hoses. Sloppy powder coating on the bottom - my compressor is showing mostly white on the bottom, poor coverage with the yellow coating. Its much quieter than I expected and works great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Compressor - Even if they do not know how to measure it One of the features that attracted me was the tank drain valve. Because it is such a pain to crawl under the compressor, try to loosen the drain, get back out and get a pair of plyers, crawl back under, loosen the valve, they try to deal with the water, I wanted a ball valve out front. I was going to add that to my new compressor when I chose one. This one already had one, although the case was split and it leaked. My local Home Depot gave me a new one free. All I had to do was get a 1/4" male NPT fitting with a barbed hose fitting on the other end, mount it on the valve, and I had a convenient way to drain the tank into a container (I think I am going to drill a hole in the outside wall of my shop and run the hose outside!). Now it will be much easier to drain the tank at the appropriate periodicity. I prefer the V-Twin pump configuration as it runs cooler. I like the liquid filled pressure gauge as it resists vibration. The compressor is much quieter than my last one (the red one they sell in the store and has outrageous repair parts cost). It is also much heavier that the red one which usually means stronger construction all the way around. I found it ironic that the website and the instructions say it needs a 30 amp 220 breaker. That requires 10 gauge wiring. When one looks at the factory wire connecting the motor to the pressure switch, it is 14 gauge! Code says 14 gauge is only good for 15 amps! Now, the big problem, they got the measurements all screwed up! The morons that listed the size say, "Depth 27", Width 20", Height 65". I guess Home Depot is not to blame because that is what the manufacturer says on their website. They have the depth and width transposed (what cretin would put it up against a wall sideways?). Moreover, when they computed the width (27"), they forgot about the pressure switch where the cord comes in. It is actually 30" wide. I played H*** trying to get it in where it needed to go. I thought I was going to have to return it. I had to reroute all of the plumbing and electrical supply to get it to fit. A 2 day nightmare! I wish the manufacturers would provide a full size diagram of vertical view of the tank and motor/belt housing/pump on top, with a hole pattern for the mounting holes marked out. It had to go in and out three times. Once to mark the back hole, back out to drill it, back in to mark the 2nd hole, back out to drill, back in to mark the third hole, back out to drill it, put in the anchors, and then back in to permanently attach it. Next time, if there is a next time, I will get a big piece of cardboard and mark the holes on it. I hope you are reading MaxAir.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from new and broke just got this set up and pumped up to 125 psi and turned it off and went inside. came out awhile later to find oil sprayed all over and a big puddle under the tank. the liquid filled gauge drained/spit all of the oil out! not impressed, and hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from There's a couple of gotcha's First off, there's now power cord, so you have to go to the store, buy wire, a plug and wire connectors, then make the cable. I understand that everyone has a different kind of plug, but at least give me wire with connectors on it. Secondly, once you get your wire made, it won't fit between the switch box and the tank. I had to go back to the store and get a 1/4" brass tube to move the box far enough away for it to allow for the wire.
