No damage in shipping (Home Depot didn't provide free home shipping for this product so I picked it up at the store). I basically tried it for a couple of days, then returned it for a more expensive system (Avallon 86 can 15" beverage cooler). The bottom line: for the price, it seemed to be a serviceable, decent refrigerator, but not what I wanted for a kitchen appliance. Here's my observations (keeping in mind that I only tried this for 48 hours): Overall appearance: It looks nice with the stainless front panel, but not quite as nice as the units with the glass doors. I actually liked the fact that people couldn't necessarily see what's in the frig unless the door was opened. Not sure I want to have to display my refrigerator contents because they are only hidden by a glass door. The wire shelves were OK - just functional, nothing more. they were removable, but didn't easily slide out to help with accessing stuff in the back. Noise: Before I got the Avallon unit to replace this, I would have said it's fairly quiet. Definitely louder than your full-size refrigerator probably is, but less noisy than a dishwasher. It probably wouldn't disturb your TV viewing if you have it in the same or adjoining room, but you will be able to hear it. The Avallon is noticeably less noisy (but also almost $300 more expensive). Cooling Function: Here's the reason I returned it. I used both a manual (mercury) thermometer inside the frig and electronic thermometer with the sensor inside to test the temp (the electronic thermometer only reads down to 34 degrees). Temperature is controlled by a plastic wheel inside the frig - not by a digital readout like the more expensive systems (this could be a good thing since some of the digital systems don't have memories to reset at the same temp if you lose power). In my try-out period, the temperature swung between 44 and 29 degrees at a setting of about 3/4 max cool. I measured this for almost 24 hours and it went thru several cycles. I tried other settings and got similar, wide temperature swings. According to the manual (or at least the small portion of it that I actually read), you're supposed to give it at least 24 yours to stabilize its cooling function, so it's possible I just didn't give it enough time, but with such a large swing in temperature, and with my weekend running out, I took it back to Home Depot for a refund. Reliability: I can't speak to that since I had the unit for such a short time. For what it's worth, it seemed relatively well made and no obvious loose parts or flimsy panels. Home Depot: I bought this from Home Depot precisely because I wasn't sure this was the right unit for me when i bought it and I know they have a great return policy. True to form, the return was quick and relatively painless. Bottom Line: This was the least expensive system I could find for a built-in beverage cooler in the 15" width class. Most of the lesser expensive systems use thermoelectronics for cooling, which requires side ventilation (same basic technology used to power the Mars Rover - but that's a review for another day...). This unit has a compressor and vents from underneath the cold-box. If you are looking for a budget system in the 15" width category (to fit the trash compactor space), and you don't have the luxury of side ventilation, then this is a serviceable system. If you need tighter temperature controls, this may not be the best choice.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Proceed with Caution... I was excited when I saw this product online because it was way less that the U-Line model I was considering. I was in need of an under-counter refrigerator for a wet bar / kitchenette for my guest floor. It met my spec requirements so I pulled the trigger. It arrived as scheduled and required no assembly. I set it in place and plugged it in and that's where it went downhill. This refrigerator is LOUD. It makes a humming motor sound. Interestingly, the only time it is quiet is when you open the door. I thought the sound would subside with time and after the refrigerator "warmed up" but it never did. In hindsight, I would gladly pay for the silence and peace of mind of not hearing this refrigerator. My poor guests...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent, additional credit was given due to the damage to the refrigerato and inconvinience. The size of the Maxx Ice refrigerator made it perfect for our need under a counter.
