Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 30 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Attractive, but not very substantial when adding a mailbox. Only plastic to attach the box to the newspaper pocket. October 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The Best Home Project my boyfriend and I completed! The classic style of this Mayne Dover mailbox stand added a clean and sophisticated look to our yard which is far better than what we had before! It's light in weight as far as handling it to assemble but strong enough to handle our 12 pound mailbox. It was easy to assemble with clear instructions/pictures and the necessary hardware! The only other piece you'll need is the wooden 4 x 4 post that the mailbox stand slides over. I also chose to purchase the Mayne No-Dig Ground Anchor which made the job easier. It's a lot more enjoyable to go get the mail and it has the added feature of the newpaper slot. Love it! December 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quick and easy but what a difference It took us an afternoon to install. We cut to size the old post and simply slipped Dover mail post over. I can't believe we waited so long - the difference is night and day. May 13, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sturdy and easy to install The polyethylene mailbox post and polyethylene newspaper holder are sturdy and should give many years of use. Being that these components are "plastic", there is some flex in the whole setup, but nothing serious. The included illustrated instructions are easy to follow. The mailbox post itself is easy to install -- simply slide it over a 4"x4" wood post (previously placed in the ground), place the newspaper holder (mailbox support arm) at a suitable level, use the pre-drilled holes in the newspaper holder as a guide to drill four holes through the poly post and into the 4x4, and then secure the newspaper holder and poly post to the 4x4 with the provided lag bolts and screws. In addition to the mailbox post and newspaper holder, a totally new installation also requires obtaining a 4x4 wood post (and "planting" it into the ground), a mailbox, and mailbox mounting hardware. The instructions show mounting the mailbox on top of the newspaper holder by drilling holes in the floor of the mailbox and the top of the newspaper holder, putting bolts (not provided) through the holes, and securing the bolts with nuts inside the newspaper holder opening. I found it easier to mount the mailbox on the newspaper holder in the same manner in which mailboxes are typically mounted on a wooden support arm -- put screws through the standard holes at the bottom edge of the mailbox and into the side of the top edge of the newspaper holder. The mailbox post and newspaper box were shipped in two boxes directly from the manufacturer and arrived about three days after I placed the order online with Home Depot. About three weeks later the company called to see if the items arrived in good order and if I was satisfied with the product. (Yes!) That's good customer service rarely seen! October 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A real standup product ! :-) The mailbox post looks terrific and is very sturdy. My husband had no problem putting it all together. December 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Elevated Curb Appeal We have the best looking and functional mailbox on the street. The unit was easy to install over our cedar post. I don't think we'll have to worry about wasps or ants invading our post with this combination. Our post looks sophisticated with several options to place house numbers and street name or resident last name. We also purchased the optional solar cap and love the look. We've received several compliments. Price is a little high, but overall, it has really added to the curb appeal and value of our home. October 16, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Decent but not great I live on a street where cars go past very fast, we get a lot of wind and the snow plows are brutal on mailboxes. I decided to install this over 3/8" walled square 3.5" channel buried 36" with 2 bags of concrete, the post will never move. It was easy to install. Just using wood screws to attach the mailbox to the post lasted about a month. I ran nuts and bolts through the bottom of the mailbox and all the way though the plastic, and it held together pretty well. The horizontal section was never very stable to the vertical section. The plastic flexed too much. Eventually the plastic failed where the horizontal part bolted to the vertical part. My mailbox is on the heavier side so that probably didn't help September 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice mailbox post - easy to assemble and looks great! This was a nice project and it looks great when you are done. My recommendation would be to have the mailbox you want to mount before assembling the post. It's really important to have the 4X4 at the right height because the horizontal piece only has limited height as to where it can be mounted on the vertical post. If you use a sonotube to mount the post in cement, it's worth the time to slip the mailbox post vertical piece over it to be sure your mailbox height is correct before you set your cement. The only "critical" comment I have about the design is I wish the spaces made to mount numbers were large enough for 4-inch numbers; I could only get 3-inch to fit. We've received many positive comments from neighbors and friends. September 6, 2016
