Would not hold temperature only 30 days after buying. Two free service calls to fix and a year later out of warranty ice buildup and won't freeze food. Will buy a different brand rather than pay 1/2 the cost of a new one for an iffy repair

The freezer worked fine until one day I opened it to find thawing food. It has been run in a residential basement (always around 65F) for only two years. I opened it up and found that when running only the first part of the evaporator coil starts freezing, as far as I can tell this means the cooling system is not working (i.e. freon leak). I was hoping it was just a bad fan motor, temperature or defrost control. Very disappointed in a failure after two years.

This is a very poor designed freezer.With all the bad reviews Maytag should have to refund our money back.Mine has never worked right.Lost all my food,Had bought the extra warranty still have not seen repair man.Poor service on Home DEPOTS part,This is really a pile of junk !!

Had this freezer for less than a year. It quit. Lost my food. Called the company and they sent a service guy out. He replaced two parts. Less than a year after he repaired it has quit again. Lost food again. Will never buy another Maytag freezer!!!

This freezer broke down a little over a year after I bought it. A repairman replaced the inside fan and got it going again. A little over three years it is broken again. It is not the fan this time and I don't want to spend the money to get it fixed so I'm junking it and getting a Kenmore. Hopefully, it will last longer. I will never buy another Maytag. They sure don't make them like they used to... really, nobody does. You just have to realize you're going to replace all your appliances several times in your lifetime. Very sad...

Bought brand new in 2012 died 2015 only lasted 3 years. I thought it might be the starter relay so I simply replaced it. Still nothing. The compressor was running but not cooling. Gave in and called a repair man, he said it was the compressor and not to bother repairing it. It was cheaper to buy a new unit. He suggested to call Maytag to see if they might help with some type of discount on a replacement. Even with the discount they offered it was still more expensive than I could find in a similar model on sale. I will not buy a Maytag product again. Even though this was made by Whirlpool, Maytag did not really stand by the product with their branding. .

We bought this freezer thinking we would have it a long time. We had it in a well insulated area and took excellent care of it. We only filled it about halfway full. It died at the first of this year. We called to talk to both Home Depot and Maytag and neither did anything to help. Maytag did send out a service man to see if they would fix it if we would buy a $295 extended warranty, but determined it was too expensive of a fix. Like another reviewer, the coils started leaking for some unseen reason. I would suggest that you do not buy this freezer, but if you do invest in an extended warranty right away. You are going to need it.

Frost Free? Ha. Inside is all frosted up. Vents are iced over and food is soft. Maytag would love to send a repair person out for a flat $250 fee. Stay away from Maytag and anything that Home Depot sells. It is obvious that companies make a cheaper product to get on the shelves at Home Depot. Been disappointed by the Depot for the last time.
