Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by raftery368 LESS THAN TWO YEARS AND IT'S BROKEN
I bought this refrigerator 18 months ago, and the ice maker stopped working already. I called Maytag and they offered me a service plan for $350!!!! The ice maker itself costs about $120. The shelves bow under a lot of weight, especially in the freezer. If you want to go the cheap route, do so but don't buy a Maytag - don't let their reputation from 20 years ago fool you today; since Whirlpool bought them their stuff is very substandard, at least this particular refrigerator is.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NOVAMom Really disappointed!
light weight, molded door shelves that are not adjustable. door shelves too skinny and short, can only hold 1 two-liter bottle at a time! 65.5 inches tall, not the specified 65.88 inches. lightweight drawers. lots of interior metal guides on the bottom of compartment that will be a bear to clean. DH picked it out, so can't complain, but thinking I need a divorce! This very disappointing appliance has to go!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by TCMich8833 Great warranty but poor shelving
PRO: perfect size and shape for our space; excellent warranty on compressor (10 years); excellent energy efficiency; quiet running.
CON: freezer temp control is hard to reach; deli drawer extends all the way across the width of the refrigerator, limiting the height of bottles and jars that can be stored on shelf below it; door shelves are not removable or adjustable; none of the door shelves is deep enough to hold gallon jugs.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Unhappyfrigguy Stay away from this frig and Whirlpool-Maytag
This fridge has only three temperature settings (plus a super cold setting if you open the door a lot). At the mid, recommended setting, my skim milk goes bad pretty quickly (never went bad in my old Maytag). At the next highest setting, veggies freeze. Part of the problem, I suspect, is the cooling tower, which causes the temperature to be distributed evenly. That's billed as a feature, but our old Maytag had a cold zone, where you could put milk and other items that tend to spoil.
The metal rail on the top shelf keeps falling of when we close the door. We've had to use electrical tape to keep it in place. A Whirlpool rep asked me to email her photos. I did, but she never responded.
As others have said, it's noisy. These are NOT spill-proof shelves (open on the sides). And you can't put gallon containers in the doors without forcing them in an tearing the labels.
Whirlpool sent a repairman who shrugged and said the shelves and temperature controls are simply a bad design. The company said it would send another repair person. That was last winter. It's now end of summer, and no one has showed up or even called. I've repeatedly called Whirlpool, which no longer seems interesting in even pretending to back the express warranty. Instead, it keeps sending us promotions to buy a service contract! (My landlady is the one who bought this fridge. If I had bought it, I'd revoke acceptance under the concept of breach of express and implied warranties).
Another problem is that the manual is incorrect for changing the bulb in the freezer. If you follow the instructions, you may break the lens.
Our old Maytag had better options for rearranging the shelves
But among the worst things is that when I tried to post a negative review for this product on the Whirlpool website, the company rejected it. I spoke to several people there, who told me that reviewers are not permitted to discuss product performance or design. REALLY! I'm not making this up. I even threatened to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. But that didn't have any effect. As a result, the product has 4.5 stars on the Whirlpool site and NO negative reviews. I don't know what has happened to this company. It used to be so good. Our old Maytag was wonderful, with many temperature settings, instead of just three.
There are some PROS.
* Light in the freezer (but see my note above about changing the lens)
* You can change the LED bulbs to incandescent if you want a better color (I tried this in the frig compartment and it works. The freezer bulb is a very unusual design. And I could not find an incandescent equivalent. So I put the LED back in the fridge).
* The wheels on the veggie bins make them easy to pull out
* I like the full width deli drawer (I see that others don't)
* We have the white one, which looks nice with the stainless steel handle. Fit and finish are good (except for the falling shelf rail).
* It's easy to clean
But what good is all this if it doesn't cool properly?
Bottom line: Avoid this frig and avoid Whirlpool-Maytag.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Disgruntled Door shelves are NOT Gallon size and no shelf is tall enough to accommodate the gallon milk jugs.
Just got it, it isn't even cold and I am already going to return it because there is no space for a gallon jug. the alleged feature of "Gallon sized door shelves" are simply not wide enough for a milk jug. An added 1/2 inch would make this work.Ugh....

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Checker Good quality at reasonable price. Quiet running.
We appreciate the quiet operation, good interior lighting and smoothly operating drawers. Converting to left-had hinge was tedious but doable. ... the biggest nuisance being the stuck-on Maytag nameplate over an essential screw hole for the door handle. We built a 3-inch-high pedestal to reduce bending required to reach into fruit and vegetable drawers. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by wej730 Light in the Freezer
The light in the freezer is what sold me on the fridge. I have to say it runs well, not loud (at least not in my opinion). Because the freezer is larger, the fridge portion starts a lot 'lower' to the ground, so more bending is required for the first shelf. We also had a weird situation where the fridge just shut down ... the lights were working, but the cooling system was not. We pressed and held a couple of buttons and seemed to restart everything, and no problems since. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
