Previously owned an LG and it quit. I think it was the magnetron and it was under warranty. It would cost more to repair than replace. I loved the side to side table and looked for another like it. Did not want to risk same company and checked Consumer Reports which rated this a 'Best Buy'. This not only has side to side table, it also goes in a small circular motion. It allows you to use large dishes and rectangular ones as well. It is stainless steel inside which I didn't know and is easy to operate and clean! I love the option that allows you to change power setting during cooking which I have never seen before. I have not had it long but use a microwave to cook a lot and really love this one! This product costs a lot less than the one I replaced and is so much more. If you want an over the stove microwave, this is the one!

When our Kenmore Elite failed after 9 years, we looked hard for a micro-hood, over-range replacement with the "back-and-forth" tray action, and this one fit the bill. Turns out that the Wide Glide tray goes from side-to-side AND back-to-front i.e. it has a better range of movement vs. even our old oven. Other nice features, some of which were not clear from the Specs or User Guide:
- Exhaust (we left to Recirc) is hidden and straight up from the front-top; thus the oven has a boxier "look" to it but is easy to get used to
- Powerful fan; moves alot more air than our old unit
- Multi-power; set from 10-100% in 10% increments; magnetron operates continuously afaict
- Add 30sec (our old one had Add 60--we like 30 better!)
- Hidden sensor measures air temp thus food temp
- Time-of-day timers for both vent and light; we set the light to come-on early AM so we can find our way to the coffee maker in the morning!
- On a cycle completion, waits for more TIME input in case you want to cook some more i.e. keeps all your cook settings in waiting. Changes to Clock again by itself after a few minutes.
- Beeps at you if you've forgotten and left food in the oven!
I had a heckuva time installing it (manufactured April 2012 btw, brand-spanking-new) because the underside of our wall cabinets is not flat, so measuring precisely to drill the 3 upper holes was difficult, and the paper template no help. The CARDBOARD template for the back wall could have been paper, and they should have used the Cardboard as a template for the upper holes--they got that backward. And be Carefull with the packaging; it's not obvious that the box top is a template!
Finally, the unit is fairly loud, but that's because the fan runs continuously when the oven is cooking. But we'd rather have the fan run vs. having the oven fail prematurely (as our old one did) because the insides were inadequately cooled. With our old unit the fan ran only when the innards got very (very) hot.
But this is one cool microwave; we're very happy. And less money than we expected to pay. Great delivery service from Home Depot too, including haul-away of the old micro. Thanks HD!

We purchased this microwave to replace our recently deceased, 6.5 year-old Maytag microwave. We, well I (the wife), decided to go with this microwave because of four main reasons: 1) It had more cubic space than our former microwave - 2.0cf; 2) It was the exact same width as our old microwave, so we didn't have to make adjustments for our cabinet; 3) The sale price was in our price range $248; and 4) It could be delivered AND installed in four days versus 10-14 days with other home appliance companies. It was just a coicidence that we chose another Maytag.
As for the features of the microwave, I really like that there is a timer on the light! This review does not give enough characters to tell why this is a great feature for my household. Second feature I will mention is a rectangular turntable (not circular) that moves in an elliptical pattern-very neat to watch. The third feature I like is the stainless steel interior. I don't know if it helps with cooking, but it looks good inside the microwave. Final feature I will mention is that there is a "filter change" indicator (like a change oil light in a car). The reason our old microwave broke was we didn't keep up with the maintenance. Now we have a reminder.
Please note we chose the installation option from the Home Depot (~$49). I was a little hesitant about this option because the Home Depot hires contractors. However, we got a great installation team: they were on time and they were friendly. They drilled a few too many new holes in my cabinet, but luckily, few will ever see. If you choose the installation option, I would recommend opening your manual/installation packet and allow the installers to use the upper cabinet template. ;)
The gist: this microwave fits my needs. I hope it can fit yours.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by sweetps LOVED it! Untl it stopped heating food
After about 18 months the light in the microwave stopped working. After about 40 months the microwaves stopped heating food. This is the second major maytag appliance I have had to replace pre-maturely. My maytag dishwasher stopped working after about 14 months. I am moving to a new brand!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mike Good buy, good performance, alll features that one needs
We had to replace a GE over the range that we had for 14 or so years. This one fit the space (most of these over the range microwaves have the same width and height). It is larger than our previous one; it is deeper by 2 or 3 inches. It cooks fine, and the controls are typical. The price was right making it a good buy. The stainless interior makes cleaning easier that the plastic or painted metal interior of our last unit. My only complaint has to do with the intuitiveness of the buttons. I have rarely had that sense on any but my last microwave. The penalty is a minimum of two or three button presses for simple tasks, but I'm willing to live with that.

The unit replaced a GE that died 10 years from it's build date. Not bad, not great... The GE unit REQUIRED that the date and time be programmed into it every time there was a power outage which is several times a year where I live. This "feature" alone made it a PITA. It also leaked RF so bad you could feel it and intuitively scurried off to a far corner of the house, which was not my imagination as It caused a great deal of static if you were on a phone call and it was running. Since it is installed over the stove it made it a unfriendly machine to use and have in the house.
This Maytag has higher build quality, is much quieter in operation, DOES NOT require programming to run (but still has all those "features" if you want them), has much better RF shielding (as witnessed by it's lack of effect on phone calls), has the nice stainless interior, is intuitive to operate, and heats evenly. Even the chime is pleasant- thought went into every aspect of the design and it shows. At $270 delivered, I could not be happier. This Microwave is our friend. Well Done Maytag!
Hopefully it lasts......

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by 17handycap It's OK
Install was easy, although you will need an upper cabinet to fasten the unit to. Don't count on using the light for, well, light. It's located in the back of the unit and doesn't illuminate much. OK for a night light. The 4 speed exhaust fan, the reason I bought it, works very well. It has a stainless interior with a shelf, for lack of space, not sure what one would cook with the shelf installed. I would recommend this unit if your looking for a unit with a good exhaust. It's a new install, time will tell.

The installation instructions were easy to read and installation was easy. We had the microwave ready to operate within 30 minutes of unpacking. The operating instructions were simple and the enclosed laminated guide made it a joy to use.
