What you really mean is, does the water enter at the top of the machine as it fills? Is that correct? I'm sorry not an answer but I would have read your question this way and everyone just said Top Loader.

You didn't describe the noise. Is it the sound of water running? the parts moving to circulate the water within the clothes?
High pitched noises around the hoses may relate to your home's water pressure. Banging or wobbling noises may relate to the washer being unlevel or the load being uneven. Metallic grinding noises are pretty much not normal.

Answer:
We have had this machine for over a month, and while it can be a little unsetting at times to hear the clicks and pops, all these noises appear to be normal for this unit. There are water valves, door locks and such that click open and shut throughout the cycles. We have had NO issues with the machine.

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 2908 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LOVE THIS MACHINE Hated it when I first used it - noisy and strange as it uses almost no water. You think something is wrong when you wash - Was going to send it back. Once I got used to the difference from my old one - I love it!!! March 22, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad Product - Do Not Buy I purchased this washer and it's only been a nightmare from day one. The lid lock light will keep flashing and the machine won't start if that light is flashing. It's stating that there is a malfunction with the product. You need to unplug and plug it back in to do a load of laundry. It also smells like burning plastic. I had mechanics come to the house to assess it, then a few days later come and replace the inside digital piece. It still smelled like burning plastic. Then Maytag replaced the entire unit with a new machine and that one has the lid lock flash and smells bad too. It's only been a headache. Do not purchase this product. May 4, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't buy! We bought this washer 4 years ago and it has been the worse washing machine we have ever owned!! The washing quality is horrendous. We have tried several different brands of detergent. We often have to wash clothes several times or hand wash in the sink and then put into the washing machine. When I wash my sheets there is usually a huge portion of the sheet that comes out completely dry and looks like it hasn't been washed at all. If you forget to put the detergent on the bottom and add to the top or even mid load you will have dried detergent particles all over your clothing. We had hoped buying Maytag would ensure us a good product but we were wrong!! April 21, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Absolutely Awful Had no idea was not told nor was it mentioned on any sales pamphlet or display sign that this is a low water washing machine. Aparently "high efficiency" means low water. When I went back to the Home Depot to complain I was told that the federal government is regulating water usage in machines, they are all like this now, high efficiency means low water. It would have been really helpful to know that before I spent $478.00. If I had known I would not have purchased this product! The machine only fills an inch or 2 with water. Didn't wash clothes or rinse up to my standard at all. Re-washed using deep water setting same thing. Also the machine runs for ever. Took almost an hour to wash a load of laundry. I purchased another normal old fashioned machine that fills with water the way I thought this one did. Wasted a lot of my husband's money here. This product is awful in my opinion. If you are someone that wants to see water sloshing all around your clothes cleaning them in sudsy water this is not the machine for you. If you are like me and haven't purchased a washing machine in the last 10 years be aware the new models don't fill with water. Wish I had been told that at time of purchase! May 19, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Maytag missed the mark I've had this machine for 2 years. I'd have bought a new one 2 months after but the hubs said No.Now he's ready to throw in the towel - literally. It's very noisy, but that doesn't bother me. What I hate is 1) it has no pre-soak and you can't pause it, it will automatically restart after a certain amount of time; 2) I HATE the lid-lock feature - you can't just open the lid and throw another item in 3) my machine is completely level but regardless of the setting, it goes off balance every time I wash towels (2, 4, makes no difference), 4) after it goes off balance, rather than just 'spinning' it refills and refills and refills, and knots around the agitator (even turning it off, resetting, unplugging won't clear its brain to just SPIN!), 5) you can't adjust the water levels - which I may not care about if it didn't go off balance. I'm just done. Sorry Maytag. This one needs a daily repairman. May 16, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Jury is still out... Have only had the unit for 2 weeks and already the agitator has disconnected. May 24, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do not buy this machine It takes FOREVER to do one load, the clothes don't even get completely wet, it is noisy and clunky. I don't feel things get clean and when the bedding is done it is all wrapped up in a ball. I wish I could return this but the short time allowed to try it out didn't give me time to realize how much I hate this machine in time to dump it back in Home Depots lap. The inconvenience of getting a machine delivered, hooked up and then dealing with a return and trying another one out, it really upsets you when you get a lemon like this and know you have to live with it for YEARS of your life. Don't buy this piece of .... and frankly, go back to the ones with agitators, they get things cleaner and seem to work faster. November 25, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Efficient I am old school. This washer gets the clothes clean. I always use deep water wash and double rinse. I probably don't need to do this but I just think a little more water gets the clothes cleaner and I live in a hard water area so I do the double rinse. Unlike many HE washers it does not take all day to do a load or two of laundry. Because I can leave the top open between loads it never has funky smells. My only complaint is that it is loud!!! Since I live in AZ, the laundry room is off the garage so it does not bother me. I would never buy this if it was to be installed inside the house other than in a basement. Many of my friends have bought the HE front load washers, paid a fortune for them, and have lots of complaints. This is a basic washer that has more options that you need for a reasonable price. I strongly suggest reading the directions prior to using! It is a little different. You can unlock it briefly to throw something in without starting over, just don't hold the button down long enough to cancel the cycle! Also be sure to put the detergent and/or laundry booster in prior to loading the clothes. Don't use to much HE detergent. Just use as directed. I have had this washer for 6 months and would give it a five star rating except for the noise. It really gets the clothes clean and you can't beat the price! May 24, 2016
