If you CANNOT or DO NOT wish to read the owner's manual or are expecting your mother or grandmother's old style agitator, high water level machine, don't buy this one. I'm very glad I bought this one!
Faced with 2 front load washers that both calved within 6 years (after the 32 year old ones respectfully died), I couldn't be happier. I found it much quieter than the front load ones I had. I don't find it noisy at all, and it's located just off the main floor kitchen with the door open all the time. Does it make weird noises? Yes, but I find them mildly amusing and delightful. I only truly hear them when I'm right in the laundry room. Quiet, soft chicka-chicka, whir-whir, click, clicks. And a wicked nice end spin.
Our sales associate was wonderful and so knowledgeable, and gave us a great primer on how this machine operates, why it operates like this, and what to expect. Lastly, she said "READ the manual at least once, if not twice or more which I did. I photocopied the cycle chart and laminated it to have in my laundry area until I get used to the cycles. Yeah, I'm that person...
She also mentioned to never overload it with HE detergent. In some cases, a Tbsp. or 2 is sufficient. My very first load on "Normal" was completed just shy of 45 minutes. The tub is huge and items just need to be mounded. I drop them in like drop cookies with not a lot of thought. As another reviewer mentioned, I have tested each and every cycle to check water levels, the time it takes, why the cycles are different, and to check temperatures, as the machine will regulate the temperature by adding some cold to the hot cycle. Bulky/sheets gave me quite a high water level and my 'hot' wash was still nice and hot.
I have no chewed up clothes, no twisted knots, and clothes are always sufficiently soaked and covered in water during the cycles, and they come out smelling fresh and clean. I bought the matching dryer as well (YMEDX6STBW) and love it too. With my others, I detested having to wipe front load rubber gaskets after each wash as well as leaving the door open to avoid stinky laundry. It bugged me. I also didn't like paying additional huge dollars for store bought front load machine 'pedestals' and I'm not capable of making them myself. With this one, not necessary. Love this top loader.
My only minor pet peeve is having no chime or buzzer at the end of each cycle. Then again, my old washers had them and half the time I turned that feature off most of the time. For this review, I deducted a star for the no alert feature, as no machine is perfect.
Even though I'm a research junkie, I had to buy this out of desperation because of my despicable dead front loader machine. After the fact, I started reading reviews. After it was paid for while awaiting delivery, I started reading some of these reviews and cried "Oh no! What have I done?" As it turned out, I honestly have not experienced any of the pitfalls mentioned here. The machine has a solid, quality feel and I trust the Maytag name and I truly like this machine. I hope the Maytag repairman in my area continues to stay lonely.

The delivery man was quick and efficient and connected the hoses and the explained not to use it until
ice in pump was thawed as it sat over night on the truck in January.
The delivery man introduced himself and was very nice.

Overall rating is average, because it does wash our clothes clean. That being said...it replaces a Whirlpool Cabrio which broke after 3 years of use by 2 senior citizens. The repair would have cost $300.00. OK, so this new Maytag does not spin our clothes nearly as dry as the old one, so drying time is increased. Also does not have a buzzer that rings, to alert us that it's done. I also appreciated that the old washer had count down timer display, I regret not taking those little things into consideration when I purchased the new one. I miss those features. But, we did get a good price, and free delivery was quick and easy, and the 2 guys were friendly and respectful. I just pray that this washer lasts for more than 3 years!

We bought a Bravos three years and 3 months ago when it stopped working. Warranty out three mo ago. Apparently the feature of self balancing rocks the bin so much the valve control (computer) broke. The whole fix would cost more than a new washer. We gave up bells and bought an old fashioned washer. I can lift lid anytime and it works great. What were we thinking..., uh more than a three year purchase??? BTW. We are a couple. Not a family. Smh. Home Depot NO help.

Big mistake, our cloths get dirty. We never had issues washing our clothing until this "thing" came along. OH, it has a large capacity, which is nice but, the only wash cycle that cleans our clothing without beating them to death with this newly designed agitator, ruff surface drum and NO WATER is the "clean washer" cycle. The clean washer cycle is the only cycle that will wash our clothing like it should, at that it consumes more water than our old washer. If your in a hurry, forget it! It takes forever to run through any cycle!
And don't forget, you'll need to bolt it down :-), it likes to walk across the tile floor...I should have done my homework, and now that I have, We'll be soon replacing it with a Speed Queen... Until then we'll be beating our clothing clean with a rock at the stream to save time and water...

Easy to use. Works very well. Looks good. I like that I don't have to worry about water level settings. The machine does it for me. The tub is large enough for a king size blanket. The spin cycle is so fast, it really does a good job of decreasing the amount of water left in the clothes, therefore reducing my drying time. I like that there isn't an agitator that takes up space in the tub. It makes odd noises. It could be that I am just not used the them, but they're noises my previous washer did not make. The new one is probably just as loud as the old one, but the noises are different. The washer is loud enough to hear on the floor above, but the washer itself is not enclosed. There is just a vented door. You probably would not want it near your TV room.
For the money, I believe I got a great value!
