I have never had it run for less than an hour. whether I put in 3 items or more, it ALWAYS takes at least an hour and a lot of times the clothes are no cleaner than when I put them in. I will never recommend this washer to anyone. My clothes have actually come out with dry spots on them, they didn't even get wet!!!

It depends on the wash cycle and the rinse cycle you select! I will tell you the wash cycles are longer than a traditional agitator machine, but the difference in times from those machines is worth it because your clothes will be a lot cleaner and you'll save water...

I don't know about a specific "grinding" noise, but I do remember this washer was very noisy. It destroyed my clothing, it was not efficient, it does not agitate well enough to submerge clothing in water, resulting in dry, unwashed clothes at the end of a cycle. I returned mine.

However, there is one cycle called "Deep Water Wash" that will fill all the way up regardless of the amount of clothing you put in the washer if you feel it is necessary for a particular load of clothes. As for the water temperature selection, you are able to adjust for some cycles. For more information I have listed the Water Temp information below from the Use and Care Guide. Thank you for viewing this Maytag home appliance.
WASH TEMP
Wash Temp senses and maintains uniform water temperatures
by regulating incoming hot and cold water.
Select a wash temperature based on the type of fabric and soils
being washed. For best results and following the garment label
instructions, use the warmest wash water safe for your fabric.
• On some models and cycles, warm and hot water may be
cooler than your previous washer.
• Even in a cold and cool water wash, some warm water may
be added to the washer to maintain a minimum temperature.

Also, this model does have a cleaning cycle. The cleaning cycle is designed to be used strictly for cleaning out the machine. You can buy the "refresh" tabs at the store, or just use plain bleach. My understanding about this added feature, is to combat any bacterial build up that may occur, due to the lessor amounts of detergent and water used when washing clothes. Which brings in to question the whole idea of using less amounts of soap and water. If using less was really cleaning our clothes, then why would there be an issue with bacterial buildup. That has never been an issue in the traditional washing machines of the past -- never!

Yes, this machine has a "Clean Cycle". This is meant for cleaning and deodorizing the empty machine. Manufacturer recommends once a month. You just add one tablet (can be purchased at any supermarket) OR you can just add 1 cup of liquid bleach in the bleach dispenser, close lid and hit "Clean Cycle." .
The Operating Manual that comes with it explains in more detail. I believe the manual is also available on the website.

Bravos 4.3 cu. ft. High-Efficiency Top Load Washer in White is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 9347.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Washer creates little holes in clothes I bought this product exactly a year ago. A few months back, I started noticing holes in my clothes but didn't trace it to the washer until I bought some new summer clothes and saw holes after only 1 wash and line drying my clothes. Turns out other people have had similar complaints. Customer service representatives were aware of the problem and suggested washing in hand wash mode, washing only a few items at a time, or separating items by materials (instead of colors). Imagine having to wash t-shirts in hand wash mode and doing twice as much laundry throughout the day with only a few articles of clothing per wash. The washer is also very loud and shakes alot. It spins like crazy.

I decided to buy American (like I usually do, but was swayed buy the "high tech" look of the Samsung units) and went with this unit. It is a smaller wash basket at only 4.3 vs. 5.2 but I have two small women that could not reach the bottom of the 5.2 anyway. It does make some noise, although the Samsung did too, so as for real world test between them, I hear no real difference unless I try to determine which noise came from which unit (why bother, all machines make some noise).... So far I've had it 3 weeks and have experienced 0 issues. It works very well, cleans everything I have thrown in it, and is very simple to use. I actually like the old school knobs better than the flat panel touch interface (can be confusing at times and must be changed each wash). If you use the deep water wash, you will see more water being used and I feel that does get the cloths cleaner. So in short, after having a much more expensive unit with high tech features and a more modern look; this unit just does a better job and is easier to use. I should have gotten it from the start. If you are looking for a no nonsense unit that does it's job with features you will actually use, check out this unit.

Immediately, the washer never worked properly. So far repair has come out six times. Let's hope it's the last. Washer takes forever to finish a load, cycles are noisy. Found out from repair never to use the 'normal' cycle...barely any water. Only use 'bulky' or 'deep water' cycles. Now the dryer is making squeaking noises. Terrible set! As far as customer service goes, Maytag said it was Home Depot's problem and should just replace it. Home Depot refused to just switch out the bad machine even after multiple repairs. "Can't test in store, no where to store it, hard to return to Maytag" Really? Last time we ever buy any appliance from Home Depot....or Maytag.

I was reading reviews on different brands of washer/dryer combos. I was really lost as to what to buy. It seemed that most of the poor reviews were from folks that were not used to HE units, and I was one of those. Well I decided to go with Maytag and I am extremely happy with them. The clothes get really clean, no matter how much is being washed. I am very old school when it come to washer/dryer combos. I loved my old Matags. So the new style of no water fill selection and no agitator was new for me and took a while to get used to. But I am happy with their performance. The washer is a little noisy but works great! Very happy with my purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 2 weeks in, so-far-so-good Needed a washer right away to replace a five year old Samsung front loader. The Samsung had developed several problems, bad bearings making the spin cycle deafeningly loud and shaking half the house. It then developed a leak. So purchased the Maytag, didn't want a front loader or a Korean product. Made the purchase, then read all the bad reviews. Difficulty balancing the machine, super loud, etc. I had major concerns. But, after several weeks of use I've had no problems with figuring out how to load the machine, and it is much quieter than the samsung ever was. No problems getting the clothes clean. So, two weeks in, i'd recommend it.

Took delivery of this product on 11/05/16 after transmission failure on a Whirlpool Cabrio after 4 years, thankfully I purchased the protection plan. First wash last week noticed a leak coming from the bottom of the new washer water soaking grout on tile floor, called Maytag for service. The tech came today and said first we loaded a mix of clothing (heavy and light) causing a splash which caused water on the floor. Then after further investigation changed it to a leak around the seal of the transmission. Contacted Maytag Service, CSR stated they only repair unless otherwise noted from the service department. Contacted Home Depot waiting for the rep to report back to me on findings from Maytag.

Bought this as a matching pair with a Maytag gas dryer that I needed to replace. Both were 24 years old and the washer was still going strong. I have only had this washer a couple of weeks and initially I thought I had made a mistake in purchasing a High Efficiency unit but after experimenting with various settings I can now understand how it works. Noise is mentioned in a number of reviews and I believe that this is due to the many changes that take place during the various cycles that are different to those on the older models. Overall I do not find this washer any louder than the last one, only different. Loading the washer correctly is critical, clothes should be placed in small piles around the perimeter of the drum and heavier articles spread evenly to prevent off balance during spin cycle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice washing machine This Maytag washing machine has all the features that we wanted and works well. It is a little noisier than the high efficiency washer that it replaced; but we are hoping that it will last longer. The control board on our previous HE washing machine (not Maytag) failed after only 5 years.
