Answer:
This one and in particular the front load washers tend to keep some moisture in them after the load is done. I had a problem with mold in my other front load washers. The "Clean Washer" cycle uses a special detergent or alternatively you can use bleach in this cycle to kill off anything. I solved this problem by simply leaving the door open after use so it dries out naturally.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't have a small load but I do believe it only uses as much water as the load dictates. The time of the load is the same but water needed is adjusted. I thought I read that somewhere. I hope that helps.

helicopter,
This washer will do small loads. It senses the amount of clothing that is in the washer and uses just the right amount of water for the load. For larger loads it will use more water and smaller loads less. This Bravos XL HE Washer is great for wash loads both small and large. Thank you for viewing this Maytag home appliance.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Run don't purchase this one or none of them! I purchased this machine just like everyone else did with the hope of buying a great washer machine for my family of 6, so of course it start rusting by the bleach department then the LD light keep coming on for long drain final it fill up and wouldn't drain , so of course my warranty was up after 3 years old and the repair guy told me that he wouldn't recommend me spending a dime on that washer because it's going to keep causing more problem he said the new machine are the worst and told me to buy a speed queen , Frigidaire or anything old school with an agitator for long lasting and good cleaning! I wasted over 900+ for this darn washing machine! February 6, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst Quality ever seen in a Maytag at a very high price We bought this product thinking that we would get a good quality product at a high price. Our experience so far indicates exactly the opposite. The unit has already been serviced once after only two years of use because of the leaks. We contacted Maytag. They consider the rust (see picture) a cosmetic defect (in only two years?) and the leak will cost us another $200-300 for someone to look at. No accountability on the product at all. I simply would not recommend this product at all. April 30, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by We purchased this product on the information provided by Home Depot salesperson. The clothes are not getting clean, even after two or three washing and the machine is tearing holes in the clothes or tearing them apart. November 14, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Maytag Bravos XL I absolutely HATE this washing machine. All mine ever does on every cycle is flash "dL'. I usually have to stand for about 25 to 30 minutes going through every cycle saying dL before it finally will pick up a cycle. I don't have time to stand there going through that every time I wash. I dread washing now because I hate that washing machine. I also feel like my clothes are not washed good enough, I don't feel like they thoroughly cleaned. I hate to even give it 1 star. July 3, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Failure We bought this washer new at $900 thinking it would live up to the reviews. It has been a great washer up until recently when it started leaking oil all over our floor. Our washer is only 2 years old and it has failed. We had the warranty company from Home Depot come out to fix this 3 times and every time there is a new problem that they have caused. Water leak, oil leak, soap leak, and now it has stained a bunch of our clothes that the company has yet to offer an apology for. We are very disappointed and out a big chunk of money. The warranty was a waste and the company they sent our said they have never seen an expensive washer such as this one fail this early in life. April 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best washing machine ever! I bought this washer this past weekend due to the fact my older model washer by maytag had finally threw in the towel. I loved my older washer so much that we just got the same brand newer model and so far am just as happy. July 11, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed! I hate that you can not set a water level. I understand it is supposed to save water but my clothes do not come out as clean. With the lower amount of water the clothes get so twisted together. The lack of water also causes more friction on the clothes making them not last as long and some of my towels are getting frayed ends. One towel completely shredded. It also takes over an hour to wash a load on normal cycle. About 20 minutes is just the machine trying to determine the water level. July 18, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by SMELLS! I have had the Bravos XL top loader for 1 year and it now has a terrible smell despite following manufacturer directions for cleaning/care. Apparently, the unit has stagnant water that stays in the bottom of the unit and grows mold. I did online research and the smell is a common complaint which the company is doing nothing about. I thought the smell issue was only with front-loaders, but I was wrong. DO NOT buy this product. I have to replace it after 1 year of use because my clothing and entire house smell terrible.
