I bought this washer to replace a much-despised front load LG Tromm that smelled terrible despite my every attempt to de-stink it. Wish I had replaced it much sooner- this new Maytag washer has been such a huge improvement in my laundry routine. After reading other reviews on this machine, I have some specific pointers:
a) The instructions direct you to pile the laundry loosely in the machine, not over the center of the washplate. So if you pretend there's still an agitator in the middle, and make sure you can see that silver button at the bottom after you've loaded it, it will work much better. I found this out the hard way by NOT reading the instructions first :)
b) I have mixed feelings on the glass door. I kinda wish it wasn't there because for the first two loads, I sat there and watched, perplexed, wondering how my clothes would get clean in such a small amount of water. Take my advice - load the wash, add detergent to dispenser, push the button and walk away. Trust the washer, it will get your laundry sparkling clean.
c) I, like others, wasn't a fan of all the little chimes and dings as each button was pressed - you can easily turn this completely off by holding the cycle signal button down for 5 seconds. It's there in the instruction manual.
It's also helpful to use the correct cycle for whatever you're washing - there's a cycle for sheets, one for bulky (handled a king-size comforter with no problems) and of course a normal cycle. You can tell a lot of good design and engineering went into this machine - it works superbly.

We bought this washer new at $900 thinking it would live up to the reviews. It has been a great washer up until recently when it started leaking oil all over our floor. Our washer is only 2 years old and it has failed. We had the warranty company from Home Depot come out to fix this 3 times and every time there is a new problem that they have caused. Water leak, oil leak, soap leak, and now it has stained a bunch of our clothes that the company has yet to offer an apology for. We are very disappointed and out a big chunk of money. The warranty was a waste and the company they sent our said they have never seen an expensive washer such as this one fail this early in life.

This has to be one of the best washers available, the bang for your buck is unparalleled by any other washer machine on the market. The biggest things that made me very happy was the following.
1. Uses 75% less water then a normal top loader
2. Super quiet operation
3. Ease of use
4. Wash a king size
5. High Efficiency uses less detergent
6. Rebates available from power and gas company
I would recommend this washer to anyone looking for a new washer because it does as good if not better then a front loader but without the huge cost of a front loader this size and the smells that can be problematic with a front loader.

I thought this washer was a good value for an HE appliance. The wash cycles take way longer than the 23-year-old unit it replaced, but apparently that is price of HE. Since I often do my laundry overnight or as I leave for work, this is not an issue. It does a great job, however much time it takes. I like that there are lots of settings for different load types. As for the HE side of things, I think where it really saves me energy is the fact that it spins a LOT more water out of the loads, leaving the dryer to run less. My dryer probably runs half the time it used to.
The unit seems well built. I will reserve comment on its reliability as I've only owned it for 3 months.

Bought this washer in Aug 2014. By December it was squeaking a ridiculous amount. Service came and changed out the bearing. In Jan 2015, it was clunking and squeaking. The person we spoke to at customer service at Maytag tried to dissuade us from having a repairman come, saying that these machines make odd noises and that we'd be charged it they couldn't find a problem.
Another repair was made, to the suspension system this time. Guess what? Clunking is gone, but squeaking is back. Worst use of $800 ever. Machine is not even 7 months in the house. AWFUL!

Love this washer. Love how you can watch it through the glass top. love how quite it is. love how it actually uses water to the correct level to soak the clothes. I went from the high dollar Kenmore set that was loud, always went into error and never put enough water in to clean a sock. It was never a good set from day one and broke the bank. This Maytag is everything a great washer should be. Wish I would have had this when the house was full of kids.

I purchased this Maytag washer to replace my original Maytag when I built my house 20 years ago. I'm so glad that I did. It is a beautiful machine and so very efficient. Being on a well and living in Colorado, I am concerned about water ( as are all Coloradans) consumption. I use much less water with this machine. I do have a problem, but not with the machine! I used to be 5'2" but now am just 5'. My husband saved the day and developed a "height extender" for me. Just what I needed.
