I have a Bravos X model MVWX700XL1 and the bearings were roaring before it was 3 years old and now leaking and causing multiple problems. I wish I paid for the warranty. I'm thinking about buying the new one to somewhat match our dryer but I'm afraid of it not lasting.

Answer:
I'm with Mike here, steer clear!! The problem mentioned having to replace the outer tub is a common and expensive, $200 part + 3 hours labor, issue. My Bravos XL is less than 2 years old and sounds like a freight train while producing a leak. Search for the issue online and you will not be surprised to see 500+ complaints.

I bought my Maytag washer/dryer about a month ago and I am still enjoying and getting use to having the set in my house. So far it has been working well for me. I bought the extended warranty, so hopefully I'll be ok. I bought the set because my bedding is king size I had the dub, it was ok but had a very hard time getting the king size stuff in and out. It wasn't Maytag, another brand.

Proper usage of Oxi Cleaners

The owner's manual mentions using Oxi cleaners in the bleach dispenser, but also says it can't dissolve powdered bleach. Can you only use liquid Oxi cleaners in the bleach dispenser? If so, do you put the powdered Oxi cleaners directly in the tub?

Answer:
Hi Eaglejim,
The powder Oxi cleaner does not always completely dissolve when placed in the dispenser and as a result it 's cleaning action can be compromised.
That is why Maytag recommends using only liquid detergents and additives in the dispensers only.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 539 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I love this washer I was really impressed that this washer got out a blood stain (small nosebleed on a white sheet) that I had let sit for 5 days. No way would my old washer have done that. What I love most about this washer is its HUGE capacity, technically just 75% more, but it seems more like 3x more. With my old machine, I had to do 3 loads a week, and kinda sorta overstuffed the loads, which means the whites never got that white. Now I do just 2, neither load even full capacity, and my whites are definitely whiter. I also love the features I've tried (eco cold, delayed start), probably haven't used even half the features available. Cons: 1) It is pricey. You can see for yourself how much more it is than most Maytags. 2) It can get noisy. It seems to be twice noisy as my old machine. 3) It is large. While it's not much wider than my old machine, it's about 4" taller and 4" deeper. If your W&D space is limited, make sure to measure carefully to see if it will fit. All said, I love this washer. No buyer's regret here. I'd definitely buy the same washer again. December 11, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Bad Purchase I am very disappointed with this washer. Other than not cleaning clothes very well, after about a year the machine began to have problems with the lid lock, thus leaving clothes in a puddle of water at the end of the spin cycle. After some research, this seems to be a common problem with the Bravos model. Repairs are more than the cost of a new washer. August 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Loving this washer; perfect for family of 5! I've had the washer about two months and it's a wonderful machine. We had a front-loading machine prior to this one and after having this washer, I'll never go back to a front loader. This washer is quiet; lots of cycles and features to choose from; clothes come out smelling clean and fresh! I've noticed the drying time has even lessened because of the ability to choose different water extraction speeds. Overall great experience with this machine. The icing on the cake is it's made in the USA! April 27, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Run away! One problem after another. Can't finish the auto-clean cycle, Rinse and spin cycle fails with certain settings consistently, way to easy to get out of balance. Just not a good design paired with amazingly poor build quality and material. All internal piping are hoses, thin ones with apparently rather brittle fittings. This thing proves the KISS principle by simply not following it. Pity, first and last Maytag purchase, it's that bad. March 5, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible machine, repairable after two years Two years in and the bearings began leaking water into the transmission. Washing machine started spraying grease and water onto the floor when used. Three repair companies quote $700+ for repairs. Too bad what whirlpool did to the used-to-be-reliable Maytag. I'd recommend avoiding at all costs. A $1100 washing machine should last more than two years before having a catastrophic fault. January 24, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Buyer Be Warned I have had this washer since November. It has virtually destrolyed about $1200.00 worth of clothes and linens since then. No matter what setting and not matter how you load the washer it rips things apart. Maytag will not honor their products so I am stuck with a machine that costs close to a grand that I am virtuallly afraid to use. Buyer beware. If you are considering this product back off and stay away September 20, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by After 25 Loads of All Types My wife is happy, so I am happy. We both stood in front of the washer and observed the cycles through the glass window. It was a bit comical, but it was very fascinating to see how washers have advanced in the last 15 years. The machine is quiet and does not vibrate the second floor of the house (laundry upstairs). It cleans very well too. The washer went out of balance once during the washing of two large blankets at the same time. I'm not sure my wife laid them in properly. Also not sure any machine would have functioned properly spinning the water out of these two items. In the past, my wife did them one at a time. The steam function is useful, but not a necessity. I can't see spending $100 extra for the "gray metallic" option either, but that's me. I also purchased the corresponding dryer with steam. The steam function is useful for the dryer. The units were on sale and Maytag runs rebates periodically. I also like to haggle, so I got a decent deal. I can't say how these units will hold up long-term. Maytag was bought by Whirlpool about 7 years ago. The "new" Maytag’s had quality problems, but it appears Whirlpool/Maytag are trying to get Maytag back to "premium" product status. These units have "commercial technology" monikers and improved warranty. It's most likely hype, but time will tell. February 6, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by I am kind of disappointed of the new technology If you have an older washer that fills all the basket with water and let you soak your clothes to remove stains....DONT GET RID OF IT! This new machines have a super long cycle an hour for the shortest one, and doesn't remove stains, if you use the maximum extraction it tears the cloth, the whites come out full of stains, the colors seems as if the softener stains it. If you want to wash bulky stuff if looses balance and even with a comforter gets stuck, you have to come back and rebalance. I like the big capacity, and cant find an old model with this big capacity... but I don't like this one that much. I went to check out all the models al homedepot, and this one is the best jn this new technology. so I will just have to learn the advantages of it. After you use it leave it open, because it smells horribly. June 8, 2014
