Perfect refrigerator for a couple of folks...big enough for what we need and well laid-out. The black looks great in our kitchen, too! The ice-maker does a terrific job, and we love the freezer drawer and compartments. All easy to get to...

We bought this to replace our old Whirlpool (1993) side by side, because that one got damaged due to electrical surge. Got it in black to match our kitchen and other appliances. Has the gloss black door and handles and the rippled style sides. Magnets stick to the door and sides. Looks really nice.
We had the door reversed to open right to left.
Ample room in the fridge and the shelves are configurable for height.
This is one of the most energy efficient fridge units around, about $43/yr estimated. Does not have any fancy features like water/ice dispenser, and for a regular fridge has all the features you need.. It has ice make in freezer, and the ice is a third the size of the old ice maker we had, which is really nice.
Freezer compartment has the two sliding wire bins. The dividers in the freezer bins are not great since they mess with the space you have. I removed ours before the freezer got cold, and that was not easy since you need to use a screwdriver or some other hard flat object (butter knife) to release the clips. Not something you want to do when it is cold and could break the clips. These should not be pre-installed (my opinion). Lots of usable space in the freezer with these dividers removed (25lbs turkey in lower bin).
Wheels on fridge make it easy to slide in /out and once in position, just lower the stoppers (have to remove front grid with two screws) and it is set.

Piece of garbage. Compressor went out TWICE in less than three years. Completely unacceptable.

Highly recommend this fridge. Well lit, well organized. Freezer on bottom has wonderful pull out wire baskets that organize all your stuff and no more frozen items falling out and hitting you on the head or foot ! Fridge is at eye level an you can see at a glance what you have. Kids 10 and younger may have trouble reaching the upper shelves; however, this can be a plus by putting on the lower shelves what you want them to have and on the higher shelves what you want them to ask for.
Temperatures are digitally adjusted and have been perfect. Ice maker does a fantastic job. Love this fridge.

I purchased this model in January 2014 andI have had eleven service request and this refrigerator still does not work. Both Whirlpool/Maytag and HomeDepot have not responded with my request for a replacement. To begin with repair calls. Water line was not connected properly and flooded the kitchen twice. Bottom freezer defrosted causing loss of contents. New problem. Fresh food compartment freezes.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Alley Absolutely delighted with my new Maytag EcoConserve 21.9 cu. ft. Bottom Freezer Refrigerator. Great features and quality!
Oh, so delighted with my purchase. I do lots of research and reading before purchasing a major appliance. Then I go to the store to compare and do the touchy-feely thing! This refrigerator exceeds my expectations. Very roomy; very quiet; excellent quality, delivery and installIation at an excellent price! I look forward to many years of enjoying my new refrigerator! I rated the Features as Good only because the slide out top shelf that contains the Ice Bin does not slide out when you open the door, so when you want just ice cubes, you have to pull the shelf. Not a big deal and I would buy again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by dmary Like it so far except for one thing
Love the fridge portion. I can configure it so many ways and the door holds a ton. This replaces my same size side-by-side and I swear this one has a lot more room. I don't find it noisy at all. The ice drops and then the water runs for a few seconds but my old one did that as well. The only issue is the plastic dividers in the freezer. You cannot relocate them yourself (despite the appearance that you can and the parts page that comes with the fridge shows how you snap them in). Per Maytag I had to have a serviceman come out, use a screwdrive and impact wrench, remover the shelf and relocate the dividers. I tell you this to save you from attempting it yourself without appropriate tools. Were it not for this it would have been five stars.

(Cons) The temperature controls are easy to read, but you don't have a reference point to the number. We ended up purchasing a dial thermometer to place in the refrigerator to determine the proper setting. We have to set the temp. to level 5 (of 7) in order to maintain about 40-45 degrees (F). I think that is kind of high. If you want to be able to reverse the upper door, this model is not the one to purchase.
(Pros) The upper door holds a gallon of milk or other large containers for easy access. The freezer is very efficient to use (compared to a side by side) and quite large (you can store larger items easily), and the unit is easy to clean if you have a spill. For the money, it is a fairly good value
