What is the decibel operation level?

Asked by: Anonymous
I don't have the ability to measure decibels but I can tell you that I absolutely cannot hear mine unless the ice maker is drawing water; then I can hear the water running through the line.

I am about to purchase a Maytag EcoConserve Fridge. Can it be ordered with a left opening door?

Yes, we ordered it in black and they reversed the door for us.

Can the ice maker be turned off? I will not be using / attaching the ice maker to any water line.

Asked by: Anonymous
Yup! We didn't hook up our ice maker for a few days and just flipped the inside metal thing up so no ice would be made.

Customer Reviews

EcoConserve 33 in. W 21.9 cu. ft. Bottom Freezer Refrigerator in Stainless Steel-DISCONTINUED is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 437.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Replacement Fridge I bought this fridge after a thorough web search for a dying unit. My wife and I were more amused than impressed with the freezer unit being on the bottom, but it's turned into a useful alternative vs the top freezer. The single door unit seems to have more space than the double unit but you have to totally open the door to get to items in the back. The ice maker is very efficient and the freezer location is a plus. The only negative so far, is that after the installer and I both balanced the unit, the door won't shut unless you almost completely shut it as it swings back open. Thought maybe too much weight in the door, but no difference.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Icemaker consistantly fails to function properly. Has failed to cool three times in two years, I'... Icemaker consistantly fails to function properly. Has failed to cool three times in two years, I've lost a lot of food due to it. Service calls take at least three days notice. Drains in freezer clog easily leading to a buildup of ice at the bottom of the freezer. DO NOT BUY MAYTAG PRODUCTS.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Beauty! Just Bought It I am so happy the Sales Associate at my local Home Depot called this bottom freezer beauty to my attention! A true pull out freezer at the bottom. Drawer glides out easily. Upper and lower freezer baskets that glide out. I can look down and see clearly what is in my freezer. No more mystery food forgotten in my freezer. Spacious refrigerator section, above the freezer. Beautiful glass shelves--compartments thoughtfully organized. A delight to open and use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Like it so far except for one thing Love the fridge portion. I can configure it so many ways and the door holds a ton. This replaces my same size side-by-side and I swear this one has a lot more room. I don't find it noisy at all. The ice drops and then the water runs for a few seconds but my old one did that as well. The only issue is the plastic dividers in the freezer. You cannot relocate them yourself (despite the appearance that you can and the parts page that comes with the fridge shows how you snap them in). Per Maytag I had to have a serviceman come out, use a screwdrive and impact wrench, remover the shelf and relocate the dividers. I tell you this to save you from attempting it yourself without appropriate tools. Were it not for this it would have been five stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for money I needed a relatively low cost fridge, but wanted stainless steel. It was very important to me that the freezer be on the bottom. I also needed a door with the handle on the right hand side, that opened to the left--it seems like that is not standard. This fridge met all of my criteria for a great price (I got it on sale, so less than $1,000). The only surprising thing is that the sides of the fridge are black not stainless steel, and you can see one of the sides in my kitchen. I don't mind it so much, but I wish there had been more pictures so I would have known that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Quality for Price I love this refrigerator!! It has clean lines, plenty of storage in fresh food and freezer sections, with lighting that allows me to easily keep track of what I have on hand. Its quiet and doesn't seem to run often. It maintains temperatures well. I've had GE freezer on top, Whirlpool Gold freezer on bottom, and Kenmore freezer on the bottom, as well as an LG top freezer refrigerators over the years... does that make me an expert? :-) Out of all those, this Maytag one is my favorite!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Basic Features (Cons) The temperature controls are easy to read, but you don't have a reference point to the number. We ended up purchasing a dial thermometer to place in the refrigerator to determine the proper setting. We have to set the temp. to level 5 (of 7) in order to maintain about 40-45 degrees (F). I think that is kind of high. If you want to be able to reverse the upper door, this model is not the one to purchase. (Pros) The upper door holds a gallon of milk or other large containers for easy access. The freezer is very efficient to use (compared to a side by side) and quite large (you can store larger items easily), and the unit is easy to clean if you have a spill. For the money, it is a fairly good value

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Worked OK until it turned 18 months old I selected this model because it was the largest one I could get given space limitations. Although it seemed noisy (when the fan would kick on it would make a noise as if a woodpecker were trapped inside for about 10 seconds), I was not about to make an issue of it since it was tough enough getting this delivered. Perhaps I should have because now, at 18 months old, the fridge has stopped working. The freezer is OK, but the fridge won't get below 65 degrees. Maytag told me "too bad" since I am out of warranty.
