I had always wanted a bottom-freezer unit because I was tired of straining my back to get to my most-used part of my old 'rental refrigerator' (you know, the small, pure white top-freezer things?) which is the produce drawers.
I was so happy to find a refrigerator with the bottom drawer in my price range. The freezer is very sturdy and smooth and easy to keep organized which I was a little worried about with the baskets. It can fit twice what my old freezer could. This unit has a great ice-maker with an easy to access bin on the top drawer of the freezer (pictured) which slides right back into place when closed.
The refrigerator part is also very well organized. It has deep bins in the doors which allow for plenty of storage while keeping the shelves inside shallower so not so much stuff is getting lost in the back. Everything is very easy to reach since it is above the freezer and the much-used produce drawers are right at hip level so I can see what I have and don't let things go bad as much (and don't forget about my healthier foods).
Overall I would highly recommend this unit, even over some of the more expensive ones. However, time will have to tell about the overall quality although I am very happy with how sturdy and strong the doors are so far, how quiet the unit is (I have never noticed a noise) and how regular the temps.

Purchased this refrigerator when we upgraded our kitchen. Love it. Large shelves in the door, movable shelves in the fridge to accomodate different heights. And, no more getting on my knees to find stuff in the back with the freezer now being on the bottom. Delivered on time and installation was smooth. The delivery personnel were very good working with tight space and were considerate of doorways and floors. Stainless steel does show prints and the side is black which we had to do a build around so it would not show. But, we are very pleased with the product and its performance.

I have had this refrigerator for about a year and a half, and the defroster on the lower freezer have gone out, I have to manually defrost the freezer every couple weeks to ensure cooling in the refrigerator continues, this is a very horrible design and hopefully they will make alterations to the new models for this reason. I am very disappointed in maytag

We purchased this Refrig/Freezer in Feb 2012 from Home Depot. Choose Maytag because we were upgrading all appliances and we were willing to pay more for durability, reliability and a good name. This Refrig is a nice size. It does not have as high of quality drawers/feel as we had expected for price. 60 days after purchase we came home to a warm freezer - ice tray completely melted - all the food ( recently stocked) was thawed and ruined. We contacted Maytag - requested a replacement refrig as it was so new - we feared a lemon. Maytag said no but could send a repair person. They did - person said everything checked out, but he had seen this before, It’s an intermittent problem - sometimes happens once - sometimes takes two or three times before they can locate the problem. Fridge has run okay since but its only 4 months old. HERE IS THE PROBLEM. We just got a bill for $80 for the service call. Maytag says they only pay under warranty if they FIND SOMETHING WRONG. Receipt of service says intermittent problem. but Maytag says it was "customer education". They refuse to pay even though they sent our repair person. The "education" is Maytag does not stand behind its product. Even if product works, it is not worth the money if Maytag does not stand behind it . Look to any other company . We will not buy Maytag again.

I am very disappointed in the quality of this refrigerator. I had placed great hope in the quality of a Maytag appliance, and after losing the contents of my freezer and refrigerator twice, not to mention the inconvenience of having to arrange to be home to meet service techs (who couldn't come in a timely manner), I do believe spending this much on the Maytag was a mistake.
The first time the refrigerator/freezer went out was the weekend it was delivered, and I was away and lost the entire contents, and had to clean the unit and call for repair. I should have returned it then. Now, just over a year later, I have repair people here again.
I am quite disgruntled over this product's performance, and hope that this is the last time I have to call a repair person. Spending this amount of money on an appliance that doesn't perform properly is a bit much to expect.

Giving this fridge even 1 star was pushing it for me. The ice maker has NEVER worked and within a year and a half the compressor on the freezer has gone.
Their customer service is awful and will do nothing to help out if you're past the 1 year warranty. I'm so disappointed because I thought this was a good brand, but next time (and I'm sure it'll be soon) I'll be buying a different brand.

I purchased this refrigerator in May, 2012. On January 5, 2013, the food in the freezer was getting soft. I turned up the freezer and by Monday January 7, 2013 the food in the freezer was really soft. I called the Maytag customer service to schedule a repair. (Don't have a problem on a weekend because no one is open to help you.) The repair companies were busy and someone finally came
out a week later.There was ice in the coils and the temperature was not high enough to freeze. A new defrost thermostat was installed. A notation was made on the work order that the Cool Control Board COULD need to be replaced. No change and no ice. Maytag was contacted again. A cool control board (the main computer section of the refrigerator) had to be ordered. The replacement occurred Thursday, January 24. Still is not freezing. I called the repair company directly. Another visit is scheduled for Wednesday, January 31. Almost a whole month without a freezer. The repair company has been nice and the repairman seems to know what he is doing.
It appears that this product is what is commonly called a "lemon". I will NEVER buy another Maytag product again. If it turns out that they won't replace the refrigerator, I will be stuck buying the extended warranty for the life of the refrigerator because I can't afford the repairs.
Interesting that my old refrigerator was over 15 years old and repair was called ONCE. But then, it was not a Maytag.
Too bad since I did like the refrigerator and the bottom door freezer was great. I just want it fixed !

My 15 months old maytag MBR2258XES purchased at home depot has started to leak water out of the bottom freezer onto the floor for the second time within a month. the technician from INE that came the first time did not leave any paperwork describing his findings. Now 20 days later, same problem again. only good thing I bought extended warranty.
My 25 years old GE fridge never presented any issue. replaced it to conserve energy.
