just measured it on the front from the hard kitchen floor...69 5/8" (tight) to the top of the door hinge cover. However, you would need another perhaps a half inch when you have to push and jockey into place

This is the same person that wrote the comment and question. I wanted to mention that I was able to find and fix the problem for the freezer leak. I also would like to mention that I am no handyman and this was my first time fixing a fridge. I simply disconnected the fridge, opened the rear bottom cover (approx 6 small screws) and found the drainage pipe which had a small lint like particle (about 3mm in size) that was obstructing the drainage. Therefore in all fairness I would like to say that my refrigerator and freezer are working great and it was very simple to access and clean the drainage pipe from the back or the refrigerator. The drainage hole can be accessed through the inside of the freezer WITHOUT removing the panel, it is located at the bottom center of the freezer and its barely visible but fully accessible. I hope I could change the rating I initially gave to this product. Read Less

Hello Bob, I’m Newf from the Home Depot’s how-to Community. Thank you for your question.
You do not have to hook up the ice maker in order to run the refrigerator.
However, the installation manual does caution that the ice maker needs to be turned off if you do this. Here’s the quote: “IMPORTANT: If you turn the refrigerator on before the water line is connected, turn the ice maker OFF.”
Here’s how you do this:
"Turning the Ice Maker On/Off
To turn the ice maker ON, simply lower the wire shutoff arm.
To manually turn the ice maker OFF, lift the wire shutoff arm to the
OFF (arm up) position and listen for the click."
For more information on the installation and use of this product, see the manual here:

nick,
I do not have measurements of the interior shelving. I can tell you that the shelves are adjustable, so for a typical glass bowl or pot, this refrigerator shouldn't have any issue holding it. Thank you for viewing this Maytag home appliance.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 364 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This product has great features Purchased this refrigerator when we upgraded our kitchen. Love it. Large shelves in the door, movable shelves in the fridge to accomodate different heights. And, no more getting on my knees to find stuff in the back with the freezer now being on the bottom. Delivered on time and installation was smooth. The delivery personnel were very good working with tight space and were considerate of doorways and floors. Stainless steel does show prints and the side is black which we had to do a build around so it would not show. But, we are very pleased with the product and its performance. December 16, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Solid Fridge- prone to breakdowns Fridge is about 3-5 years old. Came with our house, which we've owned for a year. Fridge has broken down twice in that time- once drainage pipe from freezer not working correctly and leaked water all over floor, then recently ice-maker went caput- had to be replaced. Other than that, nice looking, and I love the freezer drawer option at the bottom. Just wish it was a higher quality product. Obviously doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but the ice maker is great- when it works! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] July 21, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Apparently another customer with the leaking problem My old refrigerator (20+ years of age) finally bit the big one. I went to Home Depot, and found that they really don't stock any refrigerators, by the time I got it days later, my food would be bad. They happened to have this floor model for sale at a reduced price. I saw that it had 4.5/5 stars on homedepot.com, so I picked it up. It has less usable space than my old top freezer model, but it's usable. Not enough for me to complain about. Because it is a pull out drawer for the freezer, you definitely lose space. Biggest thing is that today, my wife noticed water all over the floor. I assumed I screwed up the ice maker connection, but no, it was only at the front of the fridge. I noticed some moisture on the bottom seal of the freezer, then noticed a huge sheet of ice on the bottom of the freezer, I guess blocking a drain based on other reviews I see here. Anyhow, I pulled the ice out (over 1/2" thick at spots, and I've had it for less than 2 weeks), I'm pretty sure I'm going to find a way to trade it in for another model. Even if I have to take all the food and put it into coolers with dry ice for days. June 14, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overall seems like a reliable refrigerator; its only been third week of owning it. Seems reliable; thus far...however the noise level is a bit more than I expected. Also cannot review icemaker as I did not have it installed. Also not too keen that it smudges easily July 16, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Fan noise 95% of the time. but works couple year old refrigerator model mbf 2258xeb3 bottom freezer / refrigerator. Came with our new house. I noticed what sounds like the condenser fan running constantly, so I went online to investigate. apparently the condenser runs more often in these newer models but at lower power draw, essentially it does not turn on an off very often which it is the on and offs that draw most electricity. I guess, apparently, from what I read this makes the units fan nearly always run, meaning NO quiet time in the kitchen, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm goes the fan all the time. its not unbearable but, its not quiet either. All to save electricity, but ironically you need to open the freezer every time you want ice in your glass. I wish I had a side by side with in door water and ice dispenser. one that could shut off sometimes because my large family is not constantly opening the freezer to get 4 ice cubes at a time. But thats not why the condenser fan runs constantly, even as i write this 4hrs after the family went to bed. it has not stopped for the last 2hrs I have been at my kitchen table on my laptop. The seal on the refrigerator is sometimes very difficult to open, like its suctioned then sometimes its normal, the handle on the freezer drawer is loose the bolt is working its way out, looks like i would need to remove the lining from the inner drawer to access, no easy way to tighten. The freezer drawer gets difficult to pull due to frost build up on the slides. Food placed at the top of the refrigerator (like eggs) will freeze when the unit is set to a 3. settings range from 1-7 with 7 the coldest. What I do like however is that so far its reliable to do its intended function, there is plenty of room. But, I miss my in door water and ice dispensers big time! August 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This refrigerator is a great value, very roomy and sturdy. I had always wanted a bottom-freezer unit because I was tired of straining my back to get to my most-used part of my old 'rental refrigerator' (you know, the small, pure white top-freezer things?) which is the produce drawers. I was so happy to find a refrigerator with the bottom drawer in my price range. The freezer is very sturdy and smooth and easy to keep organized which I was a little worried about with the baskets. It can fit twice what my old freezer could. This unit has a great ice-maker with an easy to access bin on the top drawer of the freezer (pictured) which slides right back into place when closed. The refrigerator part is also very well organized. It has deep bins in the doors which allow for plenty of storage while keeping the shelves inside shallower so not so much stuff is getting lost in the back. Everything is very easy to reach since it is above the freezer and the much-used produce drawers are right at hip level so I can see what I have and don't let things go bad as much (and don't forget about my healthier foods). Overall I would highly recommend this unit, even over some of the more expensive ones. However, time will have to tell about the overall quality although I am very happy with how sturdy and strong the doors are so far, how quiet the unit is (I have never noticed a noise) and how regular the temps. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Agree.....it's a LEMON! Like many, many others have written, ours too started leaking out of the bottom freezer. We also have big, thick sheets of ice forming in the bottom. The food is covered in frost. We turned off the ice maker and unplugged the water source from the fridge. It is still leaking. Unbelievable to have spent this much money on something that lasted for only 3 years. Luckily we did buy the Home Depot EPP for 4 years and they are sending someone out in 1 week to work on it. We'll see how it goes. I won't be buying anything Maytag in the future. We also bought a Maytag dishwasher - Home Depot, "It's the best of the best and worth the extra money!" - that now after only 2 years isn't getting the dishes clean. Some come out dirtier than when they went in. Need to call for repairs on it now. NO MAYTAG purchases for us anymore. September 10, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Know why they only give a 1 year warranty !! This fridge from looks and storage is everything we wanted. Now let's get into the mechanical. We bought it new just under two years ago. All of a sudden it starts making this noise from the back that sounds like a fan motor trying to start but it is being held back by something nd a large buzzing starts. Anyway, long and short a service repair call is now in order as there is no warranty coverage even on closed unit parts. ! year warranty should tell you how long they only trust their items to last. Should have known better - February 24, 2016
