Our old dishwasher beeps incessantly when the cycle is done, until it is turned off. Does this dishwasher do that?
Asked by: MrsG2008
Nope. One beep and that's it. The lights come on though at the end and stay on until you open and remove the dishes.

does this really take 3 hours to clean a load? and does the cost include installation?

Asked by: Jdowler
I use the shortest cycle - one hour. If you pick other cycles then yes, it can take up to three hours. I see no sense in using it as the one hour cycle cleans my stuff perfectly. I usually pre-rinse before loading as it takes me several days to get a full load. I use Cascade liquid with the bleach and never had an odor problem.

Has Maytag improved & revised the problematic control board this model?

A quick search of the web shows Maytag has a SERIOUS issue with failing control boards in several models. Has this been corrected or addressed on this model?
Asked by: tzetter
I will not buy anymore Maytag appliances because we have replaced this control board 3 times. I have a washer and dryer and I am expecting the same. I am not sure I would take a free one if Maytag offered it.

Dishes come out clean and spotless on the quick wash cycle which takes about one hour; same for the normal wash cycle which takes about 2 hours and 45 minutes. The rinse only cycle feature is is nice to use while we accumulate a full load of dishes. Large capacity. Very quiet. Installation was straight forward. This is our second unit. The first one arrived with a bent rear left wheel-frame assembly that could not be seen until the unit was partially unpacked. This could have happened at any point in journey from the factory to our house. One phone call and the replacement was on the way and arrived in perfect condition. Great customer service. The unit has been in use for 8 days.

It's quiet and I LOVE the angled upper rack which accommodates larger plates, cookie sheets, etc below and taller latte mugs in the upper. The racks are laid out very well for maximum capacity. I love that it's made in USA!! My two complaints would be: 1) the cycles are very lengthy. The normal cycle is 4+ hours and the quick rinse is still 2. The other complaint is the heated drying is okay (another hour for the cycle). I like the heat to sterilize, but although most the dishes are actually dry when they come out, the interior is beaded with water. This can lead to mildew and smell bad if not unloaded in a timely manner.

The seven year old S**s*** dishwasher was much hated, and I was actually glad when the pump went out. A good excuse to replace it. After doing some research and knowing what was hated about the old unit the decision was made for this Maytag. Here is the conclusions. 1-Front Controls. Did not like the top controls on our previous dishwasher. 2-Appearance. Fingerprint resistant stainless looks great! The old stainless dishwasher always looked bad. Prefer the hidden door pull as opposed to a pull bar on the front. Prefer the rounded side design on the door as opposed to being squared. 3-Grinder and not a filter. Did not want to rinse a filter out. 4-Quiet. With a kitchen island open to the family room, the loudest noise is the water draining. 5-Clean Dishes. The old unit just never did the job and it had a bad odor. 6-Cost. This Maytag Dishwasher cost less than the last three previously owned dishwashers and yet it seems to perform better. The Maytag requires a 3/4" elbow adapter to the existing water supply line. One trip back to Home Depot for this part. If this dishwasher proves to be dependable then most likely I would stay with Maytag.

My wife and I bought this dishwasher to replace a 20+ year old Maytag dishwasher that worked well for a long time. This model was basically the cheapest model that had the 2 main things I was looking for which is a stainless steel tub and a food grinder instead of a filter that you have to clean before every load. So far theres nothing that we dont like about this model. It works really well and we only use the quick 1 hour cycle for dishes most of the time. The one thing i was slightly nervous of at first was the 50db noise level. Seeing other more expensive dishwashers that have as low as 43db I was slightly concerned with this one being loud becaue our old Maytag was quite loud but 50db is nothing. Its soooo quite especially compared to our old one but honestly 50db is quiet enough to where I cant imagine anyone really needing anything more quiet. Now if this one last 20 years like the first one did I would say its worth every penny!

Nearly perfect (read comments) When I found myself in the market for a new dishwasher, I started with a written list of my requirements, and began comparing features in person (6 stores) and online reviews (thousands, literally). I reviewed a total of 35 dishwashers (8 different manufacturers). Pros / met my requirements: 1) Stainless steel tub: Great for sound barrier and heat retention. 2) Hard food disposer: Not many dishwashers have this. I can't imagine having to constantly clean a filter (what a pain that would be). 3) Heating element: Very few dishwashers have this anymore. I want heated dry and the dishes dry when the cycles finish. There are many complaints about other dishwashers w/o this option, claiming their dishes are always wet when the cycles are finished. 4) Sanitize: There are times when I have items I want to be sure are sanitized. Many dishwashers don't have this option. Why wouldn't all dishwashers have this option? Who knows. 5) The dishwasher is about as quiet as my last one. It's a dishwasher, and I expect to hear it, throwing and moving water everywhere inside, doing its job. If it were any quieter, I'd be worrying about whether or not it's cleaning my stuff. 6) Optional: Front control v. top control panel. This wasn't a criteria I had. This model doesn't have the big handle, and the control panel is front-facing. Fine with me. 7) Decent/good customer comments from long-term owners: Don't trust comments from short term owners - who always write "it's perfect". 8) Made in the USA! Cons / didn't meet my requirements: 1) There isn't anything with this dishwasher that didn't meet my core requirements. 2) The tines on both racks are all straight. I wish the tines were curved, to hold dishes more securely. I can live with this. Both racks are very sturdy, though, compared to others (I don't like flimsy). 3) The silverware basket fold-down top pieces have holes that are smaller than the old dishwasher basket. My larger silverware pieces don't fit in the holes. So what I say - I kept the old silverware basket; problem solved. In closing, there was only 1 out of 35 dishwashers that met all my requirements - this one. My advice - write a list of requirements, and steer away from brand new owners who post "oh, it's just perfect" comments. Search for comments where folks have had a product for a longer period of time, who have taken the time to post real life experiences.

After reading the reviews, I felt that this was the perfect dishwasher for us. We bought it on sale, so I felt that we got a better dishwasher for less money. It is stylish, has several operating features, is super quiet, and does a GREAT job cleaning! I tried several of the wash & dry setting options to find which worked best for me. On top of it being energy and water efficient, it fits a LOT of stuff, so I don't have to run it as often. The only challenge is fitting bowls without having them touching. That seems to take up more space. We paid to have it professionally installed, and remove the old unit, well worth the extra money. After a month, I am still 100% satisfied with this purchase.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Expensive US Made Junk Purchased this Whirlpool made Maytag Stainless Steel dishwasher Feb 2013. By Jan 2017 the washer was no longer operational. Due to poor factory design the touch pad wiring harness was crushed during the initial assembly. The harness is routed behind the touch pad/pull handle faceplate in the door. The factory design provided no clearance for the harness. Obviously after little use (opening and closing of the door) the pinched portion of the harness behind the pull handle becomes compromised causing an ELECTRICAL SHORT. I phoned Whirlpool the maker of the Maytag Stainless Steel Dishwasher for assistance, all they offered was a "repair plan" in excess of $300.00. I purchased this supposedly quality American Made Whirlpool product as well as a range, microwave, washer and dryer in the spirit of supporting US labor. Now I'm stuck with a dishwasher that has an ELECTRICAL SHORT, possibly a FIRE HAZARD and Whirlpool trying to milk me for more money. Please think twice before purchasing anything from this Michigan based company.

We no longer have to rinse every dish before it's washed. I'd give it 4.5 stars if the system allowed. My only criticism is that the top rack should be about 1" lower. Because it is tapered, the bottom rack has tons of height, but my glasses are too tall for all but a row or 2 of the top. Still, I'd rather fit a bit less in the dishwasher and have it actually work as this one does!
