Yes, our dishwasher has the same problem. We bought it March 2013 so we are out of luck. I opened the door panel and you can see the corroded cable turning color. Like it is rusting inside the ribbon cable. You would hope they would see this is a common problem and step up.

Maytag dishwashers are not measured in sones, but in dBa's. The dBa rating for this dishwasher is 50 dBa which is pretty quiet and the quietest that Maytag has ever been at. Thank you for viewing this Maytag home appliance.

I recommend that if you do not have a standard wall socket installed under the counter to plug in to, have one installed. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor quality - failed after 3 years Purchased Model MDB7749 because we thought Maytag was a quality product. We made a major mistake. The dishwasher failed after 3 years. Unable to select wash cycles. Lightly used. This is a common problem with these dishwashers. Estimated cost to repair $300-$400. Customer service is indifferent and non responsive. Our Whirlpool washer failed after 5 years. If you decide to buy a Maytag/Whirlpool appliance please consider an extended warranty. July 19, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by do not waste your money This unit did not last. like many had the black ribbon of death. thankfully some of the DIY websites helped me save my dishwasher February 9, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Never buying Maytag again!!! purchased dishwasher May 2014 and really never washed very well, plus I would start in the evening before I would go to bed and it would still be running when I woke up the next morning. now the control panel is going hay wired and is no longer working. so we called the 800# and someone from whirlpool answered and told us that they could come out and fix it and all we had to do was pay $330 for repairs and extended warranty for another year! We will never purchase this brand again! May 9, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Never buying Maytag again Purchased this dishwasher in Sept. 2013. Very happy with it until last month. The control panel had to be replaced, costing us $271. Glad this model has been discontinued. May 16, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst purchase ever!! Not surprised this is discontinued! We bought this dishwasher in 2013, it broke exactly one year later (2014). The panel was replaced and then it broke again in 2015!!! Maytag thinks this is ok and said we should have purchased the extended warranty! They said I could pay an additional $350.00!!!!! For what??? Another panel that will only last a year!!! I somehow expected a product to work for more than a year or two! BEWARE of Maytag! I am sure they discontinued this model so they do not have to admit how many people had a problem with it. We are now buying a Bosch dishwasher which has a reputation for lasting and being of good quality. I hope it is nothing like a Maytag. I will never again buy a Maytag! Piece of JUNK!!!! I wish I could give it zero stars! April 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This dishwasher saved us a lot of money! Our new Maytag Jet Clean Plus dishwasher is amazing. Our electric bill was much less the very first month we had it. That's not just money saved over time, it's making a difference in our available cash, right now. Another surprise was how quiet it is. They said it would be quieter than our existing one, but I never thought a dishwasher could run THAT quietly. We used to have to wait to run our old one because the noise would interrupt whatever we were doing. Now, we don't hear it at all! I mean nothing! We got it for a great price, too. I honestly wish we had invested in it years ago. It would have made our lives better. January 25, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Maytag does NOT last - multiple failures due to inferior parts We've had this dishwasher for less than 2 years and have already completely replaced it once, replaced the control circuit board once and now must replace the console and controller due to the short-circuiting of the inferior, thin, poorly insulated ribbon cable. Photos of this type of corrosion can be easily seen on the internet for a variety of Maytag dishwashers. Wish I had searched, as I would never have bought this lemon. The stainless steel cabinet and motor are all super. The electronics are unusually poorly made and destined to fail during normal, light usage. Repair guy said that Maytag is now owned by Whirlpool, which explains a lot. What a (costly) shame. There is a class action against Maytag in California... unfortunately it isn't a national one, so those of us stuck with these lemons either have to keep paying for repairs, or junk an otherwise new machine. January 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic Dishwasher! I have been using this dishwasher for a little over a month and it's been wonderful! Tons of great features, gets the dishes VERY clean, lots of room for large items like my cookie sheets, and best of all - SUPER quiet!!! I would definitely recommend this to others. We use it at least once a day and it's so quiet that we finally can run our dishwasher without turning up the volume on our television :) Home Depot's delivery and installation team was fantastic. VERY professional and right on time. July 30, 2013
