We had our DW professionally installed through HD (which I HIGHLY recommend)- but we soon realized that it never finished a cycle and was defective. The electronics were all messed-up so we had it replaced (under warranty) after some extensive troubleshooting with Maytag and HD. A royal pain especially when it took 11 days from the 1st install to have a new unit delivered and installed. (this does NOT reflect in my rating)
Despite that- we LOVE this new washer with two exceptions that only after install did we realize we don't like but can live with:
(1) The status and cycle lights are on TOP of the door- no indicators are on the front of the door. So unless you install the unit so the DW is protruding from your counter-top, you won't know the cycle status without opening the door. This annoyance was exacerbated during the problems with our first unit that never completed a cycle. Per the Installation Guide the DW is designed to be installed flush to your counter-top to keep the 'clean' look- but its just not truly user friendly that way. At the beginning, you may have to open the door to see the status. We now know when its truly finished and know where to look for the glowing 'complete' light under the counter top...
(2) The bottom dish carriage derails (full or empty) if it isn't pulled straight-out. This happened with the first unit as well, so its a design flaw and we can live with it. If not for these two items, its a 5 out of 5 stars because I never knew that dishes could be so clean from a washer- its just spectacular!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by lr1969 I love this Dishwasher
I spent several weeks comparing dishwashers and had it narrowed down to 2- either the Maytag or a Whirlpool. I went with the Maytag and am so happy I did. This machine cleans excellent...Gave it the ultimate test with my sons dishes which sat in his room for a least a week. Did NOT wash them at all. Used the steam option and assumed I would have some dirty dishes after.....But no! everything was spotless and sparkling... I did invest in some rinse aid and have been using the Cascade platinum soap pellets(2 came with the dishwasher). The dishwasher is so quiet...we can hardly tell its on and running. My last one required the TV to be turned up when it was on. I would hightly recommend this product...

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by MostlyOK Best dishwasher we have had for years but......
We love this Dishwasher. Stainless tub, quiet, cleans really well. And it has a disposal which so many no longer have. But there are a couple of problems. The lower rack can come out really easy, there are no real tracks so be careful.
I had read that many complained the front control panel failed.....well it just did, less than a year old. Fortunately it is still under warranty, and I am buying an extended warranty right now. The repair tech said they did away with push buttons and the new electronic controls are affected by heat and moisture
Summary, we love this unit, best we have had in years but bite the bullet and add the warranty, you will need it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ajhquinn It works great an is really quiet.
I shopped around for several weeks for a dishwasher. According to CR this is a middle of the road quality machine. However, the only negative thing they said was that it was noisy. I disagree. I have a very open floorplan, and we can barely hear it running. If there is a negative, it would be that the normal cycle takes a long time to finish. It cleans well, is quiet, and other than some puddling on the deep bottom rims of some of our glasses, it dries thoroughly.

I just replaced a 15 year old Maytag that had been used approximately 6500 times with this one. My family loves to cook and uses a lot of dishes! (The dial controller degraded to only working on the glassware / china setting, but still worked.) I loved my old Maytag and wanted exactly the same features (steam clean, sanitizing cycle, heated drying, and high-endurance motor). BTW, I attribute the fact that it lasted so long to good quality workmanship and the fact that we never used any drying agents – all we did was put the detergent in and run it. And, this purchase was like going from an old reliable but clunky car to an updated zippier sports car. I opted for the stainless steel interior because what I noticed over time was the plastic interior (on the old one) seemed to get gouged and scratched and retained a slight odor. (We always prewash the dishes so that the disposal never really got clogged or anything). The control pad on the edge does take getting familiar with; it is not a deal breaker. It is super quiet, although the water intake is a little noisy and unnerving – it sounds like water is gushing all over the floor. It doesn’t leak (like some people claim), and, the installation team did an EXCELLENT job. Finally, I love the new layout for the dishes and the little baskets. Again, it takes some getting used to – but all in all it’s been sweet so far. Shop around because Home Depot will match competitors.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Howard This puppy cleans
After the Samsung died again, we decided not to put the cost of another service call into it.
Looked very hard at the Whirlpool machines in the same price range, but noticed that the reviewers of the Maytag were highly enthusiastic. Reviewing the models in the store, the Maytag just seemed better (I know, they are the same company): the utensil cage moves around more, there is a steam clean function, the top rack looked like you could park a truck in it.
So the Maytag is is and we are sooooooo happy with this dishwasher. The basket in the top is super convenient for lids and such. Both racks are very easy to load. The flatware baskets can be moved pretty much wherever you want and the corner basket for large utensils works very nicely for cooking spoons, spatulas and the like.
This machine gets the dishes clean. We may have forgotten what clean dishes look like (I'll simply say, never buy a Samsung anything), but glasses, bowls, forks, knives, everything come out sparkling. Super quiet, never hear it running. And loads of options - steam clean, power clean, heat dry, delay start, and so on.
And finally, the boss is very happy with the black front. It is sleek and blends very well with the rest of the kitchen; we have black granite countertops and it is an awesome match. We are super happy with our choice. Go Maytag!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Jason cleans dishes very well but controls are not the best
We purchased this product to replace a 5 year old dishwasher of another brand because it did not do a good job cleaning the dishes.
So comparing these two models the Maytag is far superior in 2 out of 3 areas.
First area is cleaning of the actual dishes, which is what is most important to me. The Maytag really does a fantastic job and I could not be happier.
The second area is how many dishes you can load into the dishwasher and again the Maytag is far superior.
The third area is the controls. This is the place where Maytag could use a little help. My old model had a read out of time left and I could see the buttons much easier. Both models had the buttons on the top. The other thing that bugs me is if you click the rinse or wash and put on the delayed start you have to click start again after every time you open the door. We often load the dishwasher and select rinse to run later that night. We then continue to throw dishes in it throughout the night. If you do not click the start button after every time you open the door it beeps at you like crazy.
Even though the controls are a bit annoying I would buy this dishwasher again. It really does a great job cleaning the dishes and you can put a lot of them in there.
Side note though – this is not the quietest dishwasher out there by any stretch but is not important to me.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by DP1957 Get an Extended Warranty - You'll Need it
At 16 months of use, the control panel went haywire. Of course, the warranty is for 12 months only. Called Maytag for service. They send "authorized service company" from my area, who charges $90 non refundable fee (regardless of what they do). The diagnosis took 2 minutes, the replacement of the control panel took less than 10 minutes (including the time to get the part from the truck--it must fail a lot if the drivers keep them on the truck!), and the charge for labor was $75 more! (Do the math, that's at least $300/hour, assuming it took 15 minutes) The charge for the part was $124.59 more. Total bill: just under $300. That's half the cost of the dishwasher!!!!!! By the way, I found the same part online for anywhere from $61-$109, with 3-4 sites priced under $80 shipping included. The repair is as simple as removing a couple of screws, uncoupling the wiring harness, plugging in the new control panel, and replacing the screws. Definitely a do-it-yourself job. I guess I know why they "retired" the lonely Maytag repairman from their advertising; he's very busy these days fixing poor quality appliances!
