Rated 1 out of 5 by Broke 6 Months Past Warranty - $650 Repair...! I generally like this washer and thought that the Maytag brand meant high quality and reliability (remember the "Maytag Repairman"...?). In fact, we paid a bit extra for a Maytag, thinking that we were paying for extra quality and reliability. The machine stopped working after 18 months of light use - it's only my wife and I at home - and it turned out to be some sort of board that burned out. The warranty was only 12 months on this part, so we were 6 months past the warranty period. The new board will cost $450 to buy and $200 to install. The repairman can't find a new board - it's been 3 weeks already - because he says the model is too new and nobody is stocking parts. I contacted Maytag, and they basically told me that I'm on my own, for both the cost and repair. In the meantime, we're stuck without a washing machine for about a month - or more... - and a repair cost that's more than half the original purchase price after only 18 months of light service... I would not recommend this machine, or the Maytag brand, to anyone. August 31, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by this product gets my laundry clean! I wash a lot of dog beds and horse laundry as well as human laundry and I have finally found a machine that gets it all clean! I love it April 16, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by horrible reliability My Maytag front loading washer has been nothing but trouble . Very expensive repairs include computer boards, front gaskets, drum assembly, drain pump, you name it all in separate repairs. Each repair comes at about 3 or 4 hundred dollars per visit. After the first out of warrantee 300 dollars repair bill we started buying the extended warrantee (direct from Maytag not HD) at a cost of 369 dollars every three years. Several more expensive repairs helped defray that, but between uncovered repairs and warrantee cost we have probably paid about $2500 for the washer alone. The washer and dryer are a matching set and it would have been expensive to simply replace them both, so we opted to keep paying the mob 'protection fee' every year because you simply can't afford to take a chance on this thing once the warrantee expires. In the latest episode the washer started leaking water all over the floor every time it is used. Front gasket won't seal right. My extend warrantee is still fully paid, however when the Maytag repairman came this time he claimed the leak "isn't bad enough" to fix. (it soaks two beach towels on the floor every time it is used] Maytag refuses to honor their extended warrantee now which we have always pre-paid in good faith. STAY AWAY FROM MAYTAG or YOU WILL REGRET IT. February 4, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Expensive but glad I bought it There are only a couple of complaints I have about this washer - I used to presoak my whites and now I cannot do that, so sometimes I have to wash them twice. For that reason I gave only 4 stars for energy efficiency and features. Also when doing small loads or bedding it sometimes goes off balance. I have found a couple of ways to deal with these issues that work most of the time - if you are doing a very small load, no matter what it is, use the "delicates" setting. My husband gets chemicals on his grove clothing and they have to go right in the washer alone, but any other setting will result in a balance error so I use delicates. For bedding, I have not get successfully used that feature, but I can tell you what NOT to do - do not mix your sheets with blankets - wash them separately - and do not use the bedding cycle for large loads of sheets only. Those are the only two ways I have tried it so I will be testing the bedding cycle again on my comforters when the time comes...I have to think that must be its intended use. July 2, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Washer would not fill up with water two days after delivery. Washer quit working two days after delivery. Ran approximately five loads and then the washer would not fill up with water. Worked great on the first five loads. June 26, 2013
