they're HUGE!!!! I bought the pair from the web site, sight unseen. We needed a washer and dryer, these had the very best reviews, but could not find them in a store anywhere, so I took a chance. I was quite taken back when they arrived. I was used to just my Maytag Neptunes, just normal sized washer and drier, the Maxima is HUGE. Huge case, huge capacity almost commercial sized. As you can see from the picture, the cabinet is 36 " high and the washer comes up another two inches and sticks out in front of the cabinet 9". I would recommend getting the pedestals as they are pretty low. We did not and I regret it. For just the two of us it's a bit of over kill, but if I had a large family I'd be in love.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by RetrieverMom So quiet I forget a load is washing. We're loving this machine
The machine is great, fit right in space where old top loader was moved out of. I'm looking forward to less water usage and saving the septic maintenance. This washer has so many settings each load is almost custom made. VERY quiet running. Disappointed that "steam" is not a separate setting as description led me to think that.
Also, there should be a choice of hose length, not just the 4ft ones purchased with the machine. We needed 5ft because hoses attach on furthest side from plumbing where old machine only needed the shorter hoses.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tdaddy Best washer ever!!!!
This washer has it all. The steam cycle gets all of the stains out of my dirty work clothes, as I am in construction. Also the clothes come out so dry they don't have to be in the dryer for very long because the spin cycle spends so very fast it's like a jet engine! The guys came and installed it quickly efficiently and removed the old one in less than 15 minutes!!! I couldn't be happier would recommend highly customer forever!!!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by wash14u Head and Shoulders above my 15 year old Whirlpool I replaced.
Very solid looks great and so much quieter than my old machine. So far I'm very pleased with performance and options. Would like to see them add a light inside like the 7000 and 8000 series... The matching 6000 series dryer which I also purchased does have a light and I found handy.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Stephspov LOVE THIS WASHER!!
I have only had the Maytag MHW6000AW front load washer for about a week now but love it!! I used the Steam function when washing my sons white baseball pants and couldn't believe how clean they came. This machine even managed to get out the old stains my old front loader (and a lot of stain remover) was unable to as well. At first, I ordered a Energy efficient top loader, but it had a pretty big dent. So, I requested a replacement, but it was a clearance item and no longer available. So, I refused the unit they were going to replace it with (I would have needed a step stool to reach the bottom of the drum and couldn't deal with that!) and requested to change my order to this Maytag front loader. I am so glad I did!! I'm not sure how electric energy efficient it is because of the long wash cycles, but it gets the job done well!! I used the front loader for about 2.5 weeks until my replacement was delivered, and I hated it!! My only regret is that I could not swing the extra money right now for the pedestal. I know I should wait a little while longer to place a review, but I was lucky enough to (what most don't get to do) sample a newer top loader (which had great reviews), but it doesn't compare!!This is a great size and has the added steam, and an allergen cycle, for a lower price than a lot of other steam washers. I'm not sure what the other, more expensive, steam front loaders have that this doesn't, but I can't think of anything else I need! So, I will check back in a couple of months to let you know if I still love my washer, but I'm confident I will! BTW, I did purchase the 3 year extended warranty.

Bought n Dec 26,2013 from Home Depot the washer was delivered on Jan 6/2014 and stopped working on April 11th2014. I have been without a washing machine since then. First Maytag repair man stated it was the lock after reading the manual for half an hour. Stated that the lock was loose so tightened and stated it was fixed and we would be fine should have no more problems. That night put a load in and guess what still did not work. So called again next morning and requested a new repair man as this first one obviously did not no what he was doing as they will NOT give me a new machine even thought I spent a $1000.00 on a machine that lasted a whole 98 days. .At present they have ordered a part and waiting for delivery. So I have phoned Maytag numerous times talked to a very rude gentleman and been told that I could not speak to a supervisor. Must note the females at Maytag were very sympathetic but could not do anything for me. Also I am now out so far $50.00 in money to use the Laundry mat let alone the time involved taking time off work to have the machine serviced

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Rob1964 Had this for a year now and have been happy
I know these reviews are mostly from people who have bought these a month ago, so I figure I would post after a year. This washer has been great, takes big loads, cleans well. A few small problems. Clothes will smell almost within 4 hours if you do not run the keep fresh option. The rubber grommet for the drum will fill up with dog hair or tiny socks. You need to clean this thing regularly. Otherwise no major problems.

I've owned this washer for 6 months and I lkied it just fine until it broke. Now 4 weeks have passed and after 3 repair visits (plus 2 no-show appointments) it is still broken. The repair vender has replaced multiple parts without success and now they want to replace the main control panel but they say that the part is back-ordered from Maytag. I called Maytag to complain and they confirmed that the part was back-ordered and might be available in another 5 to 7 days. The machine has been broklen for a month and now they say I have to wait another week while they try and find a part. Completely unacceptable! They offered to extend my warrenty another 6 months but that's about it. I wonder if the reason that Maytag doesn't have enough main control panels in stock is because they are having to replace so many of them. I'm sorry I bought this machine.
