Bought a discontinued model to replace a 25+ year old Maytag combo. Very happy with features and eye towards efficiency - water level, dry sensor and reduced wash times. I hope it lasts as long as the old one. Bravo.

This product is not nearly as good as the previous model SE1000 that I owned. The previous model was very good and lasted an extremely long time (in excess of 20 yeas). However, the new design allowing for the control panel's location at the top of the machine is very bad for short operators. Also, the limited water level capacity is very annoying and disconserting in that there is not enough water to submerge the articles being washed. Whatever or whoever is blame for it made a very serious design and marketing mistake. And the "jury" is still out as to Its longevity. All in all this new machine is a cheap imitation of its predecessor!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by AnnJ Maytag stackable
We replaced a 26 year old Maytag stackable with this one. Maytag was the only brand that would fit the original space. The washer is quite noisy and the tub only fills half way, even on a full load. However, it suits our needs since I don't fill the tub with clothes. We have only had the stackable for a little over 1 week. I only hope this machine lasts as long as the other one did. It was basically trouble free. I am hoping that the Maytag name is just as dependable as it has always been in the past. I do like the knobs. The old machine had an electronic control panel.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by molly Maytag stack washer/dryer
I am not satisfied with this machine. We have had a similar stack washer/dryer and it was a lot nicer. The washer tub has sharp edges and hurts my arms when I load and empty it. The water doesn't fill completely because of safety issues as well as it will not fill without the lid being closed. Powder detergent does not dillute in a load without my dilluting it by hand and then placing it in the washer. It is also very noisy while running and closing the dryer door sounds like a tin can with the metal being so thin.
The only positive I can really think of is the clothes are turned inside out after washing so I know they are being agitated and getting clean.

This product replaces a 17 year old one. Both dryer and washer have a smaller capacity that I don't like. The knobs are too high up for short people unlike my old one where they are in the middle. Also you should consider that most go into small closets making it very hard to see the dryer timer knob. Also the washer is pretty loud for condos, especially for an upstairs unit. It's not like my old one but this one is similar to other brands so it's not just yours. i'm sorry to sound so negative, but you asked.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by CccStyl Not a fan of controls at the very top of a stacked unit.
In general this units operates very well. Since I ordered this stacked unit over the phone and didn't think to ask where the dials were (as my old unit and most others I've seen have the control dials in the center) - I was very surprised to see the dials at the very top. They are hard for me to see clearly since they are above my head - so I am not pleased with this. The lid also snaps to locks and unlocks quite loudly and I find it odd that I can't add the detergent after I start the water flow as I like being able to clean my measurer after putting it in. Basically not a fan of the controls at the top.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by jnjj Pretty good unit
I researched this product well. I really question why they designed the tub to only fill half way but otherwise the washer runs well and produces clean clothes. Dryer does a great job and the wrinkle prevention is a nice feature. I know from experience that issues with dryers not drying well are as much the result of poor installation and vent issues as machine issues. I am satisfied except I don't like how much these units cost since it is essentially a small regular washer and dryer married together. Owned it 2 months as of this review.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Heather526 Seems like a good unit
I got this washer & dryer unit about a month ago - My home appliance warranty company replaced my broken unit with it. Because I got it through my warranty company, I cannot talk about value, price, etc. I have been happy with how both the washer & dryer run. I didn't give five stars because it feels less comfortable to use than my previous unit. No major complaints - just harder to open & close dryer door, smaller loading space for washer. These are not so much complaints as they are differences.
